I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of the people I work with are very nice. THD has a good benefit program for part time workers.

    Cons

I have been there for 1 and a half years and find it difficult to get full time work even though they let go the only part timer in my department. I get many compliments from my peers, but management keeps telling me to keep doing what I am doing. When I ask about full time work I don't seem to get a straight answer.

    Advice to Management

Be more direct in answers about full time employment.

    Pros

    Pros

co workers? apart from good ppl to work with like any other job there is no pros really

    Cons

would take you 10+ years to make a living here but not after you've been put through a meat grinder.

    Advice to Management

you play games to see what you can get out of people. push all you can out of a low pay yet when you realize it wasn't fair. you hire a new person in the same dept for more money.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Success Sharing, additional benefits like 401k

    Cons

Pay raise is not good at all, not even able to keep up with minimum wage and options to move up are little to nothing

    Advice to Management

Respect your workers and they'll put in the work you're looking for.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Co-Workers, Learning about many of the
    Products
Funny thing,, I actually liked working here

    Cons

Corporate has lost touch,, its Too Big. Subsidiary corporate offices are needed. Concerns are not addressed. The computer system is severely outdated, store managers are puppets to the local Area Managers who look not to improve but answer and address the provided 'Check List' and of course find 'Areas to Improve'.
No opportunity to Improve. Its all and only mechanics and Metrics and not Skill
Each department Not having Required Tools to address Customer Concerns,, IE... Reach/Fork Lift Operator,,, It should be So Simple,,, I actually worked Sunday Mornings being to ONLY Operator in the store ,,, leaving my department empty to assist others

    Advice to Management

In this DYI Age, there should be much more creative Metrics applied. Invest in some personal who know and can Actually Make a Difference.
Contractor accounts need more direct attention ! HD has lost MANY due to poor preference, preparedness, and direct management involvement. Most times its left to employees from one shift to another,,, and no communication until its to late.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The "Homer" fund; very charitable organization.

    Cons

Corporation has organizational schizophrenia, particularly with respect to the At-Home-Services Divisions. Constant turmoil and policy changes make it difficult to succeed. LOTS of corporate favoritism - territories never divided sensibly or fairly. You have NOT control over your schedule, hours, or how much you must travel between jobs (paying ALL your own gas and expenses).

    Advice to Management

Stop screwing with the compensation plans of the Field Sales Reps.
