I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Close to home...period. Good only for supplemental income.

    Cons

Low pay, especially for the work required. Some staff are very knowledgeable, drive lift equipment, etc. but aren’t compensated for it. Hours irregular and spotty. Definite favoritism. Unrealistic expectations of some, but not others. Now expect sales associates to generate sales leads for the store without getting anything for it. No employee discount. Company is supposedly about customer service but store is chronically understaffed. You can walk from one end of the store to another without seeing a single employee. Constant turnover. I could go on...

    Advice to Management

Newsflash: negative reinforcement doesn’t work. Give associates something to work for instead of a paltry twice-a-year “bonus”. Better pay, hours and benefits would translate to much better employee happiness and retention, but I don’t expect that to happen.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great sense of community and mood throughout the store. All supervisors were understanding and realistic about expectations and team members were encouraged and found it easy to collaborate

    Cons

Not the most friendly environment for a young woman, though I had no real issues during my tenure there were older male employees and customers alike who had trouble respecting professional and physical boundaries (not as bad as most minimum wage jobs though)

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Scheduling they always worked with your availability and depending which store you’re in you meet some very nice people

    Cons

Management sucks! They’re inconsiderate and the whole ask everyone to sign up for credit cards was annoying because a lot of people who shop there are regulars already have a card

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Always busy, pay is fair but not great.

    Cons

no training, no breaks or lunches. No overtime but you work pass your time they they cut hours.

    Advice to Management

Ensure all employees are happy with scheduling, no lunches or breaks are given. Not staffed properly. Work out cutting hrs due to having to stay when under staffing issues occur. It's not fair to staff who work hard.

    Very knowledgeable supervisor
    Great support team
Great place to learn to things

    Cons

A lot of favoritism I’m currently working here for 6 months and the new guy has been here for 2 months

Don’t play favorites, actually look at your employees who work and who doesn’t.. otherwise it’s a good place to work
