I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Stock purchase plan, steady number of hours, medical, 401k, Christmas party, some free lunches and breakfast. Great job if you neither have a job or don’t need the money. Great job if you have no other prospects in life and want some steady work but don’t expect to retire at 66 unless you have a second job and invest your HD salary on the company stock.

    Cons

Inexperienced management team, not much movement for older workers, very very, Did I say very? low pay for the workload and experience, a specialist should be making 25$ an hour and not 11$. success sharing is an insult to the associates, there are no safety apparatus other than gloves and eyeshade. Work is too straineous on the back. Store management have no freedoms for change, associate suggestions are not followed through. Management only recognize talent in the young. If you older, you will not get ahead.

    Advice to Management

Older workers have more experience than the younger ones, give them a shot to lead and you will have better young future managers. You can’t expect a 30 year old to be a leader by coming through the ranks as being a great sale associate.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall the management is rather pleasant. They help you with all your needs and cooperate with you. I'm not a home depot employee but I'm a vendor at the Hillman Group and we cooperate perfectly. They help me with my ordering for merchandise at the store.

    Cons

Of course its always one manager you will encounter that is a pain.

    Pros

I love this company. Managers are nice and helpful.
There is opportunity for advancement if you work hard and are honest. Managers will notice you.
    No drama.
    Store manager respects the employees.

    Cons

I don't have any complaints so far

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Never running out of things to do in the department and around the store

    Cons

Minimum wage and no wage increase even after 6 months of working as hard as I could. I helped turned around the department sales from negative 10 percent to possible 20 percent. When I first started the whole department was a broken mess, and nothing was in the right place. Effort was not recognized because no promotion or wage increase was even being considered by the management.

    Advice to Management

Reward the hardworking employees, not the ones that only know how to talk and make you feel good but don't do much work.

    The customer service experience.

    This is not for you.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the pressure on.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of veterans are hired and are so great to work with.

    Cons

Scheduling and coverage is horrible. Pay is not great for the expectations of having to handle too much with not enough staff.

    Advice to Management

Review the schedules and make sure all departments are covered at all times and provide enough staff to ensure success for the department and overall store.

    Pros

Benefits are great, stock option, decent staff....Set schedules are great!

    Cons

Unfortunately to get to a management position you will have to be a brown noser. Does not necessarily focus on what previous experiences one has.

    Advice to Management

Don't lie to your employees. Make use of Town Hall messages. Assoicates need good leadership. Be willing to help when an associate needs it.
