I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are good, pay is okay.

    Cons

Hard Physical labor, challenging when it comes to people with a disability.

    Advice to Management

The pay does the physical labor no justice, definitely need more money for the physical issues our body ends up with.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Freedom to make some decisions even at a lower tier positions, great part-time benefits, flexible hours

    Cons

Inconsistent scheduling coverage, bull-headed management (save for a few individuals), very difficult customer base, lack of holding individual accountability, lackluster benefits for full time

    Advice to Management

More hours need to be made available so that each department has a minimum of at least 1 employee at any given hour during open business hours except for the Pro desk.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fellow associates work as a team and are very supportive of each other in meeting customer and merchandising goals

    Cons

Merchandising supervisor needs everyone to tell him how great he is rather than focusing on tasks and implementing standard operating procedures.

    Advice to Management

Talk to the associates who are actually doing the work to implement corporate initiatives, align supervisors with the SOP's

I have been working at The Home Depot (More than a year)

    Pros

They have good benefits you can use and the starting pay is good as well. Some parts of the job are easy and others aren’t.

    Cons

Most days you can be left alone for hours in a day in end with no one to cover your department. This happens to me all the time. They leave me alone for up to 8+ hours a day with no breaks, no lunch and no one to even cover the department for me. If this happens to you just expect to be doing all the work alone. The managers play favorites.

    Advice to Management

Don’t play favorites in the store it’s wrong on your part and schedule enough people in a department in a day instead of leaving all the work on one person. That’s how you loose employees

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They pay above minimum wage in my state and have always been very cool with working around my school schedule. They offer programs such as Leave of Absence and Paid Maternity Leave as well as offer yearly raises of about 33 cents. Easy enough to switch/learn new departments if you want to. Lots of "parties" and "food days" due to money given to store for "fun fund"

    Cons

Some departments are hard to move up in. They are aggressively pro America and although my personal store was pretty liberal, Corporate seems to be quite Right Leaning. Corporate and company policy is pretty cultish. I was uncomfortable with casually homophobic, racist, ablest, and misogynistic remarks made by coworkers and customers in store.

    Advice to Management

Create a more "Safe Space" atmosphere in the break area, and encourage diversity training/seminars.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, mindless work. The shifts are long - like 10 hours - but only 4 days a week. You will be happy with your paychecks. If you can deal with the supervisor drama and being blamed for everything, you will like this job.

    Cons

Awful management. I was told Home Depot hires from within. They do exactly the opposite, all of our supervisors come from other companies, usually UPS or FedEx. I've even heard of supervisors who have never had a job before! It's also no surprise that they have no idea how to do their jobs. Any of us GWA's can run the whole show better than them, but this company will keep us a GWA until we find work elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Stop outsourcing, promote from within instead. Your general warehouse associates are very loyal and are more than just laborers. Also please get rid of those stepstools you keep in the trailers they are very dangerous.
