I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is opportunity to move up if you express the desire to.
    Flexible hours.
    Vacation time for part-time workers.
Provided that you're fine with talking to customers and comfortable in sales; can be a nice job.
Good benefits IF you are full-time.

    Cons

Some departments depending on your store are run terribly.
    Staff can choose favorites.
If you aren't vocal about only doing the job your hired for you will be used for lot attendant, carry-outs etc.(This mostly applies to cashiers)

    Advice to Management

Focus on treating all employees equally, training your staff well.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling and easy work. Dependable hours and good leadership across majority of store managers and assistant managers. Closes at 9 during winter is a plus.

    Cons

Silly push of credit cards - strategy ignored existing market penetration or clienteles ability to qualify for credit. Extremely high turnover rate despite being flexible part-time work.

    Pros

    Cons

Well like most retail, the hours are not steady. But that's retail.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

We had pizza once a month, as long as nobody was hurt the month before. I had pretty flexible hours while working there.

    Cons

the pay was only mediocre and the raises are only about 30 cents every year. The job can get very boring at times.

    Advice to Management

Make sure to keep employees busy doing something, there is always work to be done and some people don't do it on their own

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, most co-workers willing to help you, job security.

    Cons

Took 4 years to get promoted to a Department supervisor...biggest mistake of my life to take the job, only a few dollars more an hour and they work department managers to the bone, and sometimes staffing levels were so weak, that you had to be the glorified sales associate, and it left you no time to actually do your management duties...then it would come back to bite you in your rear...the upper management would say things like "You need to manage your time better" how do you manage your time better when you spend your entire shift on a cash register, because you cant hire any more cashiers, and you don't have enough cashiers? The pay was decent, but definitely not enough to match up with the stress level and workload they make their DH's have. Left the company for lowes which offered me almost double pay, and A LOT less stress.

    Advice to Management

Grow up, treat employees the way you want to be treated.
