I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great starting salary, many promotion opportunities if will to travel or relocate to be able to move through the company, major corporation with job security, company phone, laptop and vehicle with gas, toll usage was not provided until almost 2 years with the company.

    Cons

most management members were slow at filling positions which is extra work for active team members, compensation was not increased.

    Advice to Management

Communication about changes in the district to lower lever team members when it effects their work and day-to-day schedule. Do not demand things to be done from lower level team members when it is not their job nor do they get compensated to do such work.

    Pros

Long term employment will result is some great benefits.

    Cons

You will compromise your soul for long term employment.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more qualified personnel.
    1. You under staff your retail outlets. Read the comments found on your internal Warehouse social media.
    2. When you do hire, hire qualified personnel. This means hiring people willing to actually work during scheduled work hours.
    3. Leadership teams should become leaders. Currently most "leaders" simply document unacceptable behavior from associates. Leaders would initiate programs that include ongoing mentorship, constructive criticism, and a view toward retaining associates.
    4. Reward associates. A 3% annual raise on $12/hr wages, evaporates after taxes are taken from pay.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great earning potential, if you are lucky.

    Cons

This company finds any reason to penalize your commission. They manipulate sales to prevent paying bonus, and you work long days. Some sales reps have access to the scheduling software and are able to pick and choose appointments, leaving others with appointments in low income neighborhoods far from home.

    Advice to Management

Fair distribution of work, not putting your best reps on the best appointments will allow everyone to make money, not just the manager's friends.

Holding commission money for months after a project is installed is unacceptable. We pay our own expenses, stop holding money we need to survive and pay bills!
