I worked at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people, great pay. Lots of if incentives. Awesome culture! Work life balance is possible. Helps the community with lots of projects that your a part of. Corporate personnel is very caring and personable.

    Cons

Work long hours due to multiple back to back events. Store Management is inconsistent and not a team. There is alot of favoritism that is not addressed. Overhead merchandise is terribly managed which causes problems with the stores productivity and moral. Associates are expected to run several departments due to poor staffing. Cluttered stores from to much inventory.

    Advice to Management

Don't run events so close together. Manage the overhead inventory process better. Hold frequent town halls with and for Asm's especially to ensure staffing is sufficient. You lose great employees because of poor staffing. It really hurts moral and store productively.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits were given after 90 days full-time. Dental and vision for part-time. , flexibility, - scheduling and working around school schedule

    Cons

time off, training, poor management. Management never on the same page. Various ways to do something no direction from management.

    Advice to Management

Managers need more training. Consistency would be better to keep employees. People don't leave companies they leave poor management and that was the case for me leaving.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Part timers get paid vacation and paid sick days. Not a super demanding job.

    Cons

New scheduling system attempts o optimize resources based on sales trends. Not very effective as departments may not be staffed until close. Management is way to quick to cut hours. Very frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Worry less about the Home Depot credit card and more about your so called commitment to customers first. Focus on the small stuff and the big stuff will take care of itself.

    Pros

None, unless you want to be overworked and underpaid and always be put on the defensive.

    Cons

Company is still run like it is a mom and pop organization, one woman at the top is making all the decisions and they are not even rationale decisions. She has never worked in the store and wouldn't know how to carry out the orders that she gives to the managers to do. Nor does she have any concern about how the employees are being treated by the other managers.

    Advice to Management

Move into the big leagues let Home Depot start making the decisions. Don't let your petty feelings get in the way, run the company like a business not a sorority house.
