I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work environment is very friendly and welcoming. The pay is great for people with little to no sales experience. Scheduling was decent. Easy to grow within the company.

    Cons

I found myself alone every once in a while when I was in the paint dpt. on busy days (although they try very hard to prevent that for customers' satisfaction). If you're not looking to work hard, lift heavy products, and always put the customers first this may not be the job for you.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to work with wonderful people and for the most part good customers. The work environment also provides good learning opportunists, room for career advancement, merit based bonuses, profit sharing, holiday pay, as well as sick time and vacation time after the first year.

    Cons

As a part time employee I found myself working around 39 hours a week to the fullest extent that was legal. You rarely get your breaks and lunches are normally pushed to the latest possible second. You will work every weekend and non-major holiday. In addition there is no stability with your working hours you can have a three day period where you open, close, then have a midshift. It leads to a quick burnout and a high turnover rate. However, I did love my job and if given the ability to have a stable schedule I would have stayed.

    Advice to Management

Work more with your employees to create some seance of work-life balance

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Co workers are nice and make the hours pass quickly

    Cons

Management expects entirely too much from certain departments without wanting to pay the employees more for jobs well done.

    Advice to Management

Stop asking for more of your employees if you aren’t willing to pay them more

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Home Depot provides good work environment to their associates and provides essential benefits.

    Cons

Home Depot values are deteriorating with time. Too much focus on their customers, and forgetting about the essential tool for their business, their associates.

    Advice to Management

Provide a better training to management.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly work environment, great benefits and profit sharing even for part-timers, accomodating and approachable managers.

    Cons

The company expects a full-time commitment from part-time employees. The company would not need to keep hiring and training new employees if they gave current employees more than fifteen hours a week. I've worked in retail for decades, have never encountered ruder, needier customers. I'm delighted to assist and accomodate customers, but having to learn Portuguese and Spanish shouldn't be a part of that.

    Advice to Management

Give more hours to good, reliable emplyees and fire the bad ones.
