I worked at The Home Depot

    Pros

Most retail jobs are not going to be the best place to work for a long time. Hopefully this is only a stepping stone to something better in your life. While working at Home Depot I noticed positive things. 1. Very diversive work atmosphere 2. Management understands this is a stepping stone and works with school schedules 3. You as an employee are well trained in your sales area (lots of online product knowledge training...

    Cons

All retail jobs can be draining to a point. Customers at Home Depot can be some of the nastiest people you will ever come in contact with in your life. They usually shop there when something is wrong or broken in their home. They are not in a good mood and will treat you with the most disrespect you can ever imagine. This is not Home Depot's fault, but anyone working here should be prepared for this kind of rude treatment....

    Advice to Management

My time working at Home Depot was both good and bad. I met some of the hardest working people I have ever had the honor of calling my co-workers. Please continue to make the customer and your employees the number one priority. My only word of advice would be to better vet your management prospects. Half are good but the other half have absolutely no business being in management. They are not good "leaders of men (or women)".

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly Staff and flexible hours with good benefits. But, as stated below ... everyone is always so busy that no one takes the time to train the new employees.

    Cons

Low Pay for work and management does not actively train staff. You watch videos to learn about procedures and policy. The managers on duty are always too busy to help with problems and do not stop to educate new employees. The training policy at Home Depot for new hires needs a complete face lift. It does not work. I think new employees quit because they are not training sufficiently when they hit the sales floor....
