I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

I like my job because you can see outside and it's easy with some good customers and flexible schedule. I really love it if people will leave me be.

    Cons

Too many bosses. Can't mind your own business and go home. People want to know to much of your business.

    Advice to Management

There's too many people telling you what to do. Help, which way do you go?

I worked at The Home Depot for more than 2 years

    Pros

friendly coworkers, clean, good environment, decent benefits, usually had food in the breakroom, fun employee events, friendly higher ups - like a family almost.

    Cons

not enough hours, difficult to get full-time from part-time positions, decent pay- but in combination with hours its very little. Difficult to get the awards they offer, Not great at actual recognition.

    Advice to Management

Offer more hours, and don't be so stingy with promotion to full time. Recognize good employees more.

    Pros

-Scheduling is generous, so long as you plan ahead -Friendly staff and management -Bi-annual bonuses for every employee, along with extra bonuses for yearly performance or other achievements -Great for first-time workers

    Cons

-Often short staffed -Pay is small for living wage -Hard to get customer recognition for sales jobs (Service Desk, Cashiers) -Typical retail problems (irate/unreasonable customers, sudden rushes or dead moments)

    Advice to Management

Consider putting more associates on the floor at any given time, and make it easier for workers to feel motivated and appreciated

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Friendly work environment and customers are great.

    Cons

Hiring college students at Christmas and cut reg PT workers hrs. Month of Jan two week total hrs worked 16 next two week total 14. Not dependable work hrs no loyalty to everyday PT workers. No discounts for any emp. Perks unattainable for PT workers. Full time is hard to get. Low pay $10 per hr.

    Advice to Management

Incr hr wage give some sort of discount. I rec'vd. Homer award badge and I got a $15 Subway gift card. How about a $15 gift card to local gro store? That's one hour thirty minutes of work time w/no tax. Turn over is great w/PT workers.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

customer relation, some are friendly staff

    Cons

Human Resource personel, not enough hours, not a friendly atmosphere, not welcoming to transfers from other stores, last minute changes to schedule without notifying employees that commute 30 miles to work

    Advice to Management

College students have to support themselves as well and having a Human Resource Coordinator that is never around or willing to work with employees isn't good.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Very flexible scheduling. They will work with you if you're a regular part timer. They even offer benefits, like sick and vacation time to part timers. Great place to work if you're currently in college. When I got a few internships, they let me work a few odd days a week during one, and they let me take a leave of absence for the second. Also, I met some of my closest friends working there. Great community! Even though...

    Cons

Customers at retail chains can be bad, but the customers at Home Depot have to be the worst. ESPECIALLY contractors. Very stubborn middle aged men, who are either very angry or very creepy. They would have me as a cashier in lumber often because I ended up being the most experienced, and I would usually end up closing by myself, which made me a target for sexual harassment.

    Advice to Management

Be more aware of how agressive the customers can be. Help employees in these situations. If it wasn't for them, I would go back.
