I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Lots of opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

No medical insurance for part-time people.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within first instead of hiring people from without into management/dept head positions.

I worked at The Home Depot for more than 2 years

    Pros

Everyone is kind, including the managers. There is a large support network of coworkers that will help you if you need it.

    Cons

Many department heads are completely useless and the departments tend to be understaffed to the point that many different associates had to stretch across departments.

    Advice to Management

    PLEASE STAFF BETTER! PLEASE!

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

The company is very customer driven. Taking care of customers is great. The employees are taken care of but it is a retail location. The two time a year potential bonuses is great opportunity. The benefits are better than most any other company for part timers.

    Cons

They frequently prefer to bring in new people than matching their best current associates with openings they have. They provide very marginal career development except for those that are management favorites.

    Advice to Management

Work better to evaluate associates consistently across all functions and work more on associate development for existing associates.

I have been working at The Home Depot

    Pros

Opportunity to grow and build a career in the retail industry, benefits are great, working for a fortune 500 company gives job security.

    Cons

The schedule can sometimes prohibit a good work/life balance, working for the store level does not give any special consideration for jobs at the corporate office.

    Advice to Management

Close the gap between the store level and corporate, provide training and advice for those looking advance into a corporate position.
