I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Company with good benefits and customer service first philosophy

    Cons

Work/Life balance can be challenging. Team cohesiveness could be better, but that relies heavily on store managers, assistant managers, and dept heads.

    Advice to Management

Store managers should take some time every day to work on the floor in various departments, trying to spend time in every area of the operation working alongside front line associates at least once per month, minimum. You will be more approachable and learn more about what works and doesn't than any other way.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work day starts early and ends early, so it's possible to work a full or part time 2nd job.

    Cons

It is very difficult to get on as a full time employee and the pay was very low for what they ask of there employees. Barely over the minimum wage to start 8.50 hr.

    Advice to Management

You should really get to know your employees and find out what experience they bring with them and ultlize this formally unknown talent. I saw many part timers that had more we education and experience as the store managers and never moved up in the company.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The knowledge gained about different aspects of Tools/home

    Cons

The Scheduling was a big issue. I had two jobs in college and I would ask off for the days that I rarely worked the other job and they would schedule me on those days. I would let them know my schedule around a month in advance. If I couldnt get anyone to take my spot then it was fault on me.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time

    Pros

You work with a wide variety of people, many of whom have many years of experience in industries other than retail. The company has a good record of promoting from within.

    Cons

This isn't reallly a negative, but the company rarely hires an outsider to work full time.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

None. Working here will be nothing but regret at being ripped off by the pig at the trough in Atlanta.

    Cons

70% of associates have back&leg injuries from work here. 75% have 2nd jobs or another source of income because salaries are sub-Walmart. No benefits for part-timers and co. is trying hard to get rid of all full-timers any way it can. Dumbest, laziest managers. Forbes said it had the dumbest CEO inthe country. All insiders dumping their HD stock. Head pig got $40mil in stock options and he's unloading all as fast as he can. You're better off working in a coal mine, at least coal miners have a strong union.

    Advice to Management

Go to the dog pound and get put down, you're worthless.
