I worked at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Stable company. Some customers are terrific.

    Cons

Scattered management lacking focus. Some customers are amazingly terrible. You really have to work like crazy and be noticed if you ever want to make much more than minimum wage. Benefits are a bit of a joke.

    Advice to Management

Get on the same page. Explore ways to mitigate some of the extremely extraneous waste of materials that go in the compactor.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You will get in better physical shape, except for your knees, those will go bad on the concrete.

    Cons

Dangerous work. Asking for help carrying a 75 lb box or asking for assistance in pushing a pallet jack full of paintacross the store 30 times will upset management. Also if you have a disability like ADHD don't bother working in freight. You will have a stoned worker mocking you as they drive fork lifts, but you won't be allowed to because you are a risk. They will self-diagnose, humilate you, and then keep you from the lift. You will stack 100lb saws from a ladder. Just you they will use lifts, sometimes after pulling all-nighters at a party.

    Advice to Management

Forcing a single person pull pallets full of paint is only fast for a very short time. Also, your manlyhood shouldn't be questioned for asking assistance while stacking BBQs on pallets. Yes I am strong enough to do it, but I would like to keep my back from tearing a discI think it's more important then going on pain meds the rest of my life.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None that I found in 2 years of working there.

    Cons

If you got a pulse...then they'll hire you. Previous experience is not rewarded.

    Advice to Management

Get real. If you want to keep employees and retain those with Home Improvement skill sets...then pay them more and treat them better.
