I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fast-paced, good employee benefits, super friendly management. Everyone wears the same uniform, an orange apron, and the company highlights how each management member started out as an associate (or other low position).

    Cons

Some work-loads are timed, for order-fufillment, and co-workers are sometimes too lazy to assist when overloaded on a short timer, even when they are able to.

    Advice to Management

Please encourage service desk employee's to take part in bringing up a customer order, because sometimes I'm in the middle of a delivery set-up, and it's part of the Service Desk SoP.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It a very fun enviorment and lots of great people. Also very good benifits. Even for partimers including eye care, Dental and tution reimbursement. Also get biuns called sucess sharing that depends on how you store does on sales.

    Cons

Pay is in the low end for most jobs. Sucess sharing is not very good if yiur in a slow team. Thats all I can think of overall an excellent company to work for!

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's not a difficult job and is somewhat satisfying

    Cons

It's a retail job so you have to deal with customers and sometimes find something for an order can be a nightmare.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very flexible scheduling. They will work with you if you're a regular part timer. They even offer benefits, like sick and vacation time to part timers. Great place to work if you're currently in college. When I got a few internships, they let me work a few odd days a week during one, and they let me take a leave of absence for the second. Also, I met some of my closest friends working there. Great community! Even though the "orange family" thing sounds pretty cheesy, there is some truth to it.

    Cons

Customers at retail chains can be bad, but the customers at Home Depot have to be the worst. ESPECIALLY contractors. Very stubborn middle aged men, who are either very angry or very creepy. They would have me as a cashier in lumber often because I ended up being the most experienced, and I would usually end up closing by myself, which made me a target for sexual harassment.

    Advice to Management

Be more aware of how agressive the customers can be. Help employees in these situations. If it wasn't for them, I would go back.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you're reliable then overtime is there for the taking but if you can't get your work done then forget about it

    Cons

Management tries to blame the level below them for their problems even when they get everything done that they're required to

    Advice to Management

Try to understand that back end operations work much differently in every store and there is no universal fix

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a really easy job.

    Cons

Lack of team work. It is a low paying dead end job. But that is retail and I am paid accordingly.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and really see what is going on. We have associates that are recognized for their sales contributions and these same employees show a repeated lack of ethics and professionalism.
