I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers and managers. Strong team spirit. Many opportunities for advancement.

This company takes customer service and uses it like a set of tools; different people and deals for every person, but all working together for the bigger project.

    Cons

Flexibility of schedule depending on department.

The system used to set up schedules can be frustrating if you are not on a set schedule/ have less tenure. That being said, this can be a major problem if you are the newest member of the team and want a certain day of the week or holiday off.

    Advice to Management

Please remember that turnover is a costly occurrence; don't treat entry-level employees as expendable tools, make them vital assets.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours when part time. The company is awesome, they care about the associate.

    Cons

Sometimes customers can be difficult and rude. Management can sometimes forget what it was like to be a regular sales associate and asks you to do things by a specific time that only Superman could accomplish...

    Advice to Management

Communicate between yourselves... I often get mixed messages between different managers.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Got to work and focus mainly on making sure the store was set to it's proper layout. Virtually stress free job, which is a plus. Good part time job if you're attending school in the evenings.

    Cons

Part time, less then sufficient income needed to be independent, or I should say safely independent.

    Advice to Management

    Admit more full-time employees.

    Pros

    Cons

Way to much business for the staff on the floor. Management always says one thing yet does just the opposite. Most frustrating job I have ever had.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to work in the store before they make decisions.

    Pros

great associates and department heads. success sharing is always a good bonus. This company has great values through helping associates in need through the homer fund. Comunity involvement is outstanding.

    Cons

NO actual HR for associates. Poor pay and hours. Poor ability to move up from within. Poor Managment concepts. Insurance is horibly over priced for a company of this size. This will cost you up to $800 for a family of 3 or less.

    Advice to Management

Be open and honest. Implement HD values to your Associates.
