I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)
Pros
Great co-workers and managers. Strong team spirit. Many opportunities for advancement.
This company takes customer service and uses it like a set of tools; different people and deals for every person, but all working together for the bigger project.
Cons
Flexibility of schedule depending on department.
The system used to set up schedules can be frustrating if you are not on a set schedule/ have less tenure. That being said, this can be a major problem if you are the newest member of the team and want a certain day of the week or holiday off.
Advice to Management
Please remember that turnover is a costly occurrence; don't treat entry-level employees as expendable tools, make them vital assets.
I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 5 years)
Pros
Flexible hours when part time. The company is awesome, they care about the associate.
Cons
Sometimes customers can be difficult and rude. Management can sometimes forget what it was like to be a regular sales associate and asks you to do things by a specific time that only Superman could accomplish...
Advice to Management
Communicate between yourselves... I often get mixed messages between different managers.
I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)
Pros
Very flexible with your schedule, appear to be very nice and willing to help in the beginning, tuition reimbursement is decent, and other nice financial benefits.
Cons
Nobody there cares about you and how well you do, especially your managers. Everyone there will do what it takes for them to get to the top, regardless of how it makes you look or feel. The pay is crappy as well
Advice to Management
Recognize people for things they do well instead of only focusing on small things they do wrong. Give praise and respect the people below you, and they will respect you back.

Pros
Good people to work with, inside from the weather, seeing new people all the time, learning to use the lifts, all the different products
Cons
Lots of part timers, probably because of benefits
Advice to Management
Invest in your workers some more by having more full time workers. I looked at Lowes the other day and they are pretty competitive with their quality products and brighter cleaner store.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)
Pros
hours were flexible, always worked with me and i knew when the benefits were coming around, we could always talk to our upper management about anything
Cons
management was very harsh at times, and would go against store policy to get things done, and then when reviews came around they would get upset at the employee for doing what they were told to do
Advice to Management
coordinate better with each other before coming to the lower employees and changing things around five times before we finally get the final verdict
