I worked at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working with great people and developing peer networks.

    Cons

Long hours, unusual stress and not enough support from managers

    Advice to Management

Pay people better! At all levels this Company needs to respect the work that individuals offer, and then pay them a decent wage.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time

    Pros

Hire from within, many departments within the store to apply/transfer to, The Home Depot truly does sell the best quality products available which makes the job easier.

    Cons

Constantly chasing metrics that do not improve the quality of the stores, management puts a great deal of pressure on their supervisors, which in turn have to have to put pressure on the associates.

    Advice to Management

Keep the corporate metrics in the corporate offices. Many of the constant programs being rolled out are from people who have not worked a 40 hour week on the floor.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a really easy job.

    Cons

Lack of team work. It is a low paying dead end job. But that is retail and I am paid accordingly.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and really see what is going on. We have associates that are recognized for their sales contributions and these same employees show a repeated lack of ethics and professionalism.
