I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love this store and this job! I cashier at this location. We are always busy, busy BUSY!! In the 5 months that I have worked here I have been able to get forklift certified (2 left to complete), I volunteered for the 4 week inventory team, which was awesome, and also allowed me to learn the store inside out! The best team and the most awesome customer base!!! I also just signed up for my 401K, which is offered to part-time associates along with dental and vision insurance!

    Cons

not enough hours, which forces a 2nd job, which I don't like

    Advice to Management

Realize the people that will not soon leave and offer full-time. Otherwise, this place rocks!

I worked at The Home Depot part-time

    Pros

flexible schedule, easy hiring process, ability to change departments

    Cons

management and department supervisors treat part time employees like dirt and full time employees well. some department supervisors dont know anything about the department they are running, management has multiple departments ran by 1 person. supervisors and managers treat all employees like misguided, unmotivated teenagers no matter how hard they work. poor pay.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Most of the employees and supervisors are nice. However, there is always someone who will spoil the barrel.

    Cons

As a part-time employee, hours can vary from 12 to 32 hours a week. You can work in the morning, afternoon or evening until closing. Your days off will vary from week to week.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Team effort, Team spirit, Team morale. Solid ethics through and through. Helpful co-workers. Hours can be added if employee show's a good work ethic. No day is the same.

    Cons

Pay. Trying to negotiate a 20 cent increase in pay for both PT, and full time, employees is a nightmare. Customer's expectations for expertise and service range greatly, and can be a bit over the top. hard to survive on PT income. This company has a Homer Fund- but it's given out subjectively. Benefit package can be better. Pay for a specialist should start at minimum $12.50 per hour.

    Advice to Management

Favoritism can damage you in the long run. Pay your crew far more than the minimum wage and continue showing your appreciation for those who work with you.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

.50 cents higher than minimum wage
Opportunities to be rewarded for performance (but never tracked and completed)

    Cons

    Cliques are formed.
Orientation is a total lie. Orientation is all rainbows and unicorns, but that’s just it. Employment at The Home Depot is nothing as described in orientation.
No mats to stand on at self check out so you have to stand on hard cement your whole shift. Management doesn’t allow mats because they “don’t want us standing in one spot”. There are mats near the register but you’re not allowed to stand there while waiting for customers and you’re never really in that area when scanning customers or ringing them up, so it’s pointless.
Forced to push surveys and credit card offers on every customer.
Management refuses to help with covering your shift. Claims it’s the employees responsibility to try and find someone.

    Advice to Management

    Dear Management
Don’t take offense to constructive criticism. Do something more about favoritism and “cliques” and listen to your employees concerns.

    Pros

Lots of co workers my age
    Schedule flexibility

    Cons

They expect leads from you as an employee making $10.50 an hour with no commission
    Some really bad managers

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

good perks, 2 bonuses a year, good atmosphere, not to bad discounts not from the store but from other things offered by home depot

    Cons

low starting pay, even if your doing over night, low raises, if you need to leave early due to family problems you get a nice talking to and not everyone pulls their own weight so if your a hard worker and other associates in your department are not then it all falls on you, and if your looking to move up to a department supervisor its not what you know its who you know, a lot of brown nosing.

    Advice to Management

hold everyone accountable, if your a hard worker and it shows then you might want to keep that employee by a nice raise, not lose them because of that
