I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Convenient locations
    Good coworkers
    Few restrictions regarding dresscode
Few restrictions regarding piercings, tats and hairstyles

    Cons

Management mostly conerned with their own career advancement
    Lack of Training for associates
    Bleed Orange mentality

    Advice to Management

Management needs to take an active role in providing new hires with all the tools necessary to ensure their success with the company, instead of means in which to advance their own personal careers. Don't dangle a carrot of empty promises, instead, acknowledge and reward associates who consistantly perform well. Although it costs more to employ a trade journeyman, the value of knowlege and skill set they share is by far much more valuable than merely staffing depts with higher body counts.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lovely atmosphere, great co-workers, great schedule flexibility, everyone truly becomes like a family, great no call no show policy (I didn't get fired after 3 NCNS!!!), great teamwork, great, great, great store to work at! Shout out to Wendy Store Manager! She is always looking for ways to make working at The Lemon Grove Home Depot a wonderful experience. She truly shows the true values of The Home Depot and always greets her associates and customers with a warm smile. She is a wonderful Store Manager who deserves recognition!

    Cons

I was paid $11.33 when the minimum wage in San Diego, CA is $11.50?????

    Advice to Management

Please make sure to have enough cashiers working at the Returns Desk. There is always a page for back-up cashiers to go to the Returns Desk. This is not only stressful for the cashiers at Returns but also for the customers. Some customers are really in a hurry however low staff does not allow check-out time to be quick and efficient. The Home Depot is supposed to work for quickness and accuracy but not having enough staff at the returns desk causes a very stressful and hectic atmosphere which is not good propaganda for the company. It also causes customers to be angry and react negatively to the cashiers. The Home Depot takes care of each other which means having a quick and efficient check-out time is necessary to fulfill one of the core values of The Home Depot and it also means to take care of your associates who are working hard to provide customers with great customer service.

    Pros

Customer, co workers, ESPP, good first job

    Cons

Pay needs improvement, management shows favoritism to those who kiss add, hard work does not always pay off.

    Advice to Management

There are those that do their jobs well and are hard workers that never get so much as Thank you for being part of the team.

I worked at The Home Depot (More than a year)

    Pros

Every Home Depot I have visited cultivates a family atmosphere with the team. They hire from within all the time. So much room for growth!!

    Cons

Such a huge company is bound to have a lot of corporate red tape. Even if there is a really simple solution to a problem it can't be acted upon without corporate permission.

    Advice to Management

Please PLEASE have your employees' backs when they need you. Too many times has a manager told me "tell the customer xyz" then when I do and customers get mad and ask for the manager they would always act like you are in the wrong. Not cool. Be more professional. Take some responsibility.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hard to get fired, relaxed dress code, minimal work for day associates, good resume filler.

    Cons

Everyone is equal, doesn't matter if you are there 5 years and a vital part of your department, any 18 year old off the street can come in and make the same $ as you, it is also just as hard for a useless bum who leaves all their work for others to get fired.

    Advice to Management

Promote people who get the job done, fire people who don't.
