    Pros

Great co-workers, flexible hours, and caring management.

Rude customers, micro-managing supervisors, and boring training videos.

    Advice to Management

Promote people who actually deserve the position, not just your friends.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are better than average. I enjoyed co-workers and helping customers.

    Cons

Young managers lacking maturity. Not enough people scheduled to meet customer needs. When co-workers are on breaks employees must cover multiple departments, Stressful job. Really high turn over.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really motivational and supportive with associates when they are working well which is really important in a work environment, in my opinion.

    Cons

Lack of teaching skills because it is very busy most of the time and even lack of resources, more of a self taught experience so far for me.

    Advice to Management

Train associates more rather than just throwing them out to the sales floor because not everyone is self taught and has the motivation to be.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time

    Pros

nice people, nice location, nice coworkers, coffee is free for customers too. And weather is nice too.

    Cons

Got hired on the first day of June, did not give me the salary I agreed to which was $13.50, and also the past 2 days got delayed my 15 minute breaks, and got delayed my lunch break too, and also today management cut my lunch break short, they told me only 30 minutes, it is supposed to be my usual 1 hour lunch break.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employees, stop ripping them off of their money, and their breaks. Fill in the schedule accordingly. 1 hour lunch is 1 hour lunch break, NOT 30 minutes.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Benifits. Now offering set schedules for full time employees

    Cons

Department Supervisors not compensated enough, only reason to become a dh is to hope to be an Assistant store manager. But ASM's are expected to work 60 hours a week

    Advice to Management

Include the every day employees into the decision process on what is and is not selling and what you need more of less of. Update the computer systems and ordering process its way out of wack. Your benifits are great, but you pay is low for what you expect out of the employees. More paid holidays to bring in line with other industries outside of Retail Days off.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Part time work, plenty of hours available. Morgan Hill store highest sales. Meeting and exceeding goals meant profit sharing. Every employee gets a bonus if store does well.

    Cons

Hours are not flexible. If you need to take off a day for a funeral, you have to find a replacement, HR does not find a person to fill the day you take off. If you do not find a replacement it is counted against you. Even if you have plenty of notice. The hours cut into your sleep. Work you until midnight, then have you come in for a morning meeting at 6:00am. Then you go home and come back for a shift that starts at 10:00am. Then they would call you back to see if you could work at 7:00 to midnight for closing. Too many split shifts.

    Advice to Management

Trying to do self daily training and go and do sales at the same time is not productive. It is difficult to meet sales target, when you have to leave the floor to do on line video training.
Far better to have live classes on site. Take the test and certification then be on the sales floor.
