Management, pay, when they need you your their best friend when they dont they will remind you your expendable turnover rate is ridiculous and it is due to the company

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees what their worth and you wouldnt have 80% turnover rate. 25 - 30 cent raise ach year for a top perfoming associate thats ludacris

I worked at The Home Depot (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefit and good perks. 401k is ok too. Hours are flexible and people are wonderful to work with. Depends on the season too .

    Cons

Pay rate too low , for a size like Home Depot 401k and medical should be the best not average benefit like a smaller company in California.

    Advice to Management

    Stop making empty promise

I have been working at The Home Depot as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Move around store not same spot all day. Kinda of a workout at times.

    Cons

Working in sun all day or cold in the morning. Expected to do more then most. Called constantly from different exits to load customers. ( sometime 2,3 at a time while you are already working on a task or helping somebody at the moment.) You ask people if they need "help" but sometimes able bodied people stand around or get on phone while you lift their cement blocks or bags of cement. If you take a breather afterward a manager or head cashier may think you're just "standing around". You can get pulled to do other tasks in the store and most certainly these are THE TASKS THAT NO ONE ELSE WANTS TO DO!!! Told that you need to move faster BUT you look around at all other employees and they walk slow and stand around!!

    Advice to Management

Give more pay to people that are expected to work harder lift heavier things. Why are lot techs expected not to stand around but for people inside it is perfectly ok. Treat people equally!! I have not read anywhere that some people are excluded from lifting or getting a bit dirty be FAIR BE EQUAL!!

    Pros

None I can think of but if you must work there know that it pays to be just as dumb as the rest of the crew.,

    Cons

Everything is a downside the training is just a big rah-rah on how great HD is and how big they are and how every other hardware company sucks.

    Advice to Management

Give people who actually want to work in a specialty dept a chance to do so.Stop providing customer no service.
