I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Managers, co-workers & most all customers are wonderful! Pretty relaxed, not super-regimented. Breaks always given, even for short shifts. Close to home, so I save on gas.

    Cons

NO store discounts!! Minimum wage. Made a couple dollars OVER minimum wage (for the time) 14 years ago at HD at a different location (near Buffalo, NY). Was surprised to hear what they paid in Syracuse, but I needed a job! Was making just a quarter above minimum and now that it's gone up statewide, am making just the minimum, same as new hires. Not right!

    Advice to Management

You want to make HD the number 1 employer... Well, see what you can do to pay a fair wage, so your employees will stay!! Makes sense, seeing there are other stores so close, that are paying MUCH more fire the same type of job!! We'd buy more with a store discount too! Otherwise, I truly love my job!

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Benefits, 401k, profit sharing, stock

    Cons

Salaries are TERRIBLE. Stores are in a downward spiral. No accountability at any level. No answers to important questions.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to fix things that aren't broken! Too many chiefs not enough braves, pay your employees more, where is the accountability for problems that occur? EPOP is a disaster. When designing POG's maybe hire some that actually know what one is.

    - take associate blue prints serious, they are to us.

    - listen to your dept managers about issues, and their solutions! Theyre your bread and butter!
