I have been working at The Home Depot full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of new challenges every day. The vastness of the organization means there are always new systems and challenges to take on. The learning curve is steep, so if you want to learn and grow, this is the job for you.

    Cons

Company relies on contract labor to a great extent, so not everyone has the same level of commitment to a project.

    Advice to Management

A longer term approach to our IT systems would make the company stronger. The least expensive approach is not always the best over time.

I have been working at The Home Depot

    Pros

Good place to work and they have work from home options for some. the benefits like health insurance and success sharing are good. they also have a employee stock purchase plan that is great.

    Cons

It sometimes takes a long time for a contractor to become an Home Depot associate. That can be discouraging. Opportunities for advancement is better in Atlanta than Austin.

    Advice to Management

Work with your direct reports to help with career paths. give positive and constructive advise and live the core Home Depot values.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Its a good company who focuses on IT. The management is well and always opportunity to learn. They encourage the to take advantage of all opportunities in the company.

    Cons

The location in Austin is not the best, but not the worst. It would be nice if it was down town, more of the center of technology. Having to work with headquaters eastern time zone.

    Advice to Management

A fitness center with showers would be awesome.

    Cons

Micromanaging Even though there is lots of opportunity to develop yourself and move on throughout the company, most positions require you to relocate to Atlanta Georgia

    Advice to Management

Need to approve the reward system or acknowledgement of quality work from your employees. There's an issue with current employees not feeling very valued in their current position

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    T-shirt and Jeans attire, 24/7

    Cons

Quite a bit of mismanagement, lack of communication throughout the entire organization (Home Office, IT, Stores), many projects are put into production for their time, micro-management. Although the company pushes that we're one big family, it just seems like there are too many people outside their core values/culture for it to work.
