    Pros

    Good pay
    Great co workers

    Cons

It's retail so they open early and close late but that is to be expected

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers are great and the company's emphasis on working safe is a definite plus. The corporate retail culture takes some getting used to but the opportunities for advancement look promising. Stay tuned...

    Cons

The relatively low rate of pay for the overnight hours and skill-set required for the job leads to a lot of turnover.

    Advice to Management

Pay should be thirty to fifty percent higher as it is in other industries for third shift work. If this were the case, employee turnover might cease to be an issue.

    Pros

good benefits, paid vacations, sick time paid

    Cons

Managers want to bonus at the end of the year so they put high standards on their specialist. Expect employees to do more when there arent enough employees to help the customers.

    Advice to Management

do better at scheduling employees on the the floor for coverage

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits, good starting pay

    Cons

Poor management, poor communication, and major lack in growth and opportunity.

    Advice to Management

Utilize employees that display passion, willingness to learn, and enthusiasm for your leadership roles. The core values of the Home Depot seems to have been misplaced with the greed and selfishness of its superiors.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Home Depot culture creates a family out of its employees. There's a sense of connectedness with The Warehouse (THD's employee social network), where employees from stores all over the country can ask and answer questions. The work is typically fast-paced and, depending on the attitude of employees, can even be fun. When I transferred to a different store, many of my coworkers still kept in contact with me. Benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

Managers sometimes transfer between stores and some of them make me wonder how they got promoted. There's an attitude that if someone asks for something outside your department, you immediately call someone in that department and run away from the customer. In my case, someone says "floor", "window", or "blinds" and I get called to help the customer. Sometimes I get called for something as simple as "where are the blinds?" And then I walk them over to the huge sign that says blinds on it because that's too much effort for someone outside of my department. For the most part, this isn't a career. It's a job that you have while you look for something else.

    Advice to Management

You should know the basics of everything your workers do. It's inexcusable not to know how to process a refund or look up an order. If you don't know something, be willing to learn instead of treating the situation as if it's beneath you.

    Pros

If you are a hard worker and a logical thinker, the sky is the limit. Once management notices a potential leader, they will take you under their wing and help you grow. Advancement can happen quickly and they promote from within the company.

    Cons

I personally have none but if you do not want to work retail hours, The Home Depot is not for you.

    Advice to Management

The new labor model is working well. Thank you for the change, it is helping with customer service and will help the business grow.
