I worked at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Cashiering is easy to learn and easy to do, thanks to the high cashier turnover.
Stress-less job if you know how to do it right.

    Cons

Low salary, majority of employees are part-time, firings happen to employees who have been in the company too long - entirely to avoid paying benefits or higher wages. HUGE disconnect between what management tells you (customers first, knowledge pays, etc) and the cost-cutting priorities that I see.

    Advice to Management

If you want good, knowledgeable employees that can actually help the customers, pay them a fair wage with solid hours on which they can make a living. Otherwise, enjoy your part-time quitters.

    Pros

Home Depot has always been known for its' great benefits package. They are also very flexible with their scheduling as long as you are also flexible when they do need you to work.

    Cons

Home Depot were not very good with their training. No wonder their biggest competitor (Lowes) has been able to beat them when it came to customer service

    Advice to Management

Provide better training for your employees. Poorly trained employees affects your customers and that is your bottom line.
