I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Friendly
-Everyone has a personality and not just dead beats
-Small Bonus checks every 6 months
    -small 6 month raises
-Lot of opportunities to climb the ranks if that's what you're aiming for.
    -Flexibility

    Cons

-Management sometimes doesn't know what to do
-There are people who just don't work
-Messy for a company who teaches that safety is a priority
    -Product count is never right

    Advice to Management

Despite how long it would take change things for the better not just make everything make "sense". Organize the store and learn to be a role model otherwise the store will never change. Enforce the fact that everyone carries the store because right now it's just a handful of people and they're getting no recognition.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits (but you pay for them), profit sharing, christmas parties, a huge amount of help for associates with a wide variety of lifes problems.

    Cons

Pay is not great, not a huge focus on creativity, poor communication between upper management to lower management and grunts, too much time is spent focusing on what is wrong and not enough time spent on what is right, everyone up top seems to "pass the buck" and never takes innitiative or responsibility

    Advice to Management

    See above

    Pros

The customers and co-workers were pretty easy to deal with. Labels were easy to understand and usually up to date.

    Cons

Management was horrible and there was no accountability. I often noticed employees slacking and just wandering the store since there was no real leadership.

    Advice to Management

At times make the managers work the floor to build an actual team atmosphere and lead by example. With the managers being a presence and seeing employees at work it might help weed out certain non-contributing employees and reward others that deserve it.
