I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Good environment, helpful management. Decent

    Cons

Customers can sometimes cause some very nasty situations and management gets involved only after it gets really ugly.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You work with some good people. There are always exceptions. Schedule flexibility. Success sharing.

    Cons

Internally, the employee morale is substandard due to the company's values not being effectively exercised. Terrible policy adherence by the company. (Outdated and/or ignored.) Associate pay.

    Advice to Management

This advice is directed at corporate HR in Atlanta. Invest in your company's current talent pool. Hiring/promoting/retaining within the company based solely on experience is a poor business practice. Education should be considered as much as, if not more than, experience. Perhaps I may not have seen a District Manager, a Store Manager, and two ASMs get relieved of their positions.

I have been working at The Home Depot for less than a year

    Pros

Home Depot has a solid foundation for core values. From what I've observed, most people are generally pleasant to work with. My immediate supervisor is probably the most flexible, understanding manager I have ever had. That is a reward in itself.

    Cons

Pay is minimal. Business model is not employee centered, which is outdated. Morale toward management is well below par.

    Advice to Management

Engage your associates. Show a greater interest in them. Make their work meaningful and they will return the favor by taking more interest in their job and thereby productivity.

    Cons

They need to hire more full-time employees an offer employee incentives to help keep them working at their full potential while toning down underpaid overworked management people.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Solid company. Good pay for retail. Fun place to work. Good job stability as long as you do your job, are honest and show up on time. 'Good team atmosphere!'

    Cons

Few hours for part time employees. It's not the company it used to be! Little room for advancement into management.

    Advice to Management

Open up and encourage more advancement opportunities for employees wanting to grow with the company.
