I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As far as Sales Associate jobs go, Home Depot was the best. I enjoyed working in the garden area and felt like I was encouraged to learn.

    Cons

When they had a sudden downsizing, we were suddenly let off. Rehireable, but it was very sudden. Changing schedule

    Advice to Management

Continue to allow people to fit where they grow best

    Pros

Amazing culture at Home Depot. True belief in company values. Strong sense of community and doing for others. Pay on most levels is in line with industry standards. Good benefits and many opportunities to advance in the company.

    Cons

Not fully interconnected with all portions of the business. Finding the right people within the company to resolve issues can be frustrating. Although plenty of room to advance, the opportunities can be tough to navigate. Personal development is encouraged, but not always accommodated.

    Advice to Management

Keep your employees aware of career paths and assist in career planning. Find a way to streamline resolution contacts in all portions of the company.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of fun to work for. Very reasonable with associates. Lots of room to grow if you wish.

    Cons

How they eliminate position. With no warning! Some of management has there own ideas, and they don't follow the company play. This is not ever where only in certain areas.

    Advice to Management

All store managers are great to work with, some District managers are not. They have there own ideas and some treat associates like lower rate citizens

    Pros

It's a job, if that counts.

    Cons

Working for nights leads to zero career advancement. You will fill the gaps in the many vacant positions and will not be able to transfer, as I assume it is a hard position to fill when paying as much as a part time cashier. Clear discrimination between night employees and day employees.

    Advice to Management

Rember the night team exist, doing all the things you don't want to do. My team has never been to a Christmas party in all the years I have worked here because it is during our shift. Things like that are why I only give 20 percent instead of 100. You don't even deserve the 20, to be frank.

    Cons

definitely who you know environment when it comes to opportunities

    Advice to Management

Set up a career path that is known to everyone so your employees can gauge where they stand. It's hard to know what you are working towards

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love this job. You travel to meet customers and measure for flooring products. Its not always easy, but its interesting. When you are done with your appointments you are done for the day. You work from home and no one is breathing down your back but its up to you to get your work done in a timely manner.

    Cons

The pay sucks for the amount of work and travel you do. Parking sucks. You get tickets. Your car takes a beating.

    Advice to Management

Get contrator parking stickers or company vehicles. Lower the travel radius and add more techs. Because this is a decent job if you don't travel too far in different directions on the same day. If a tech has a larger more difficult job that takes them out of the way for travel pay more.
