    Good company, bad management

    Pros

It’s a complete package of a company in my branch.

    Cons

Management needs to listen and adhere to what technicians needs are. Training is little to none. There’s expectations of technicians getting things done they weren’t trained on so how is that a technicians fault?

    Pros

Free ICEE'S all day long. Coworkers I worked with were the best.

    Cons

Working for a manager that has no experience what so ever, has no clue on how to run her Dept. It's like working for dumb & dumber..

    revolving door of customer serviced

    Pros

It is a good place to start and work is not the hard. If you get to know people the place can be fun. There are often potlucks.

    Cons

People who are not qualified, or at least do not work, can be promoted if they are related. This makes the rest of us feel like the only way to the top is to marry into the family. They rather constantly hire incompetent new temps then focus on keeping diligently employees. If you make any mistake you are out. Each department doesn't like to help each other because everyone is too worried about taking on "someone else's" problem. People have been fired in the middle of the day and forced to do the walk of shame in front of an entire department.

    Great Stepping stone

    Pros

    1) Decent pay and benefits. However, see 2) in "Cons". 2) For the ambitious and creative person, some positions can offer a catapult to branch out to other things. That is, for those who seize the opportunities to develop their skills. However, see 3) in "Cons".

    Cons

    1) Too common not to go noticed -Nepotism or part-of-the-club culture. Promotions/unwarranted accolades given to in-laws, daughter's of former employees, nephews, etc. with mediocre abilities, while talented (and tenured) employees have to "leap a tall building" to be recognized or appreciated. 2) Probably "the-way-of-the-world" with many corporate entities, but pay is grossly disproportionate to duties in some cases, what's more. (In all fairness this refers to underpaid as well as overpaid scenarios). 3) Skill development is like "leaping the tall" building scenario, good cross-training is not a priority in many cases. 4) Management stays well up-to-speed on the personal (salacious) matters with their employees, some maintain personal connections that are apparent in the workplace, but have little knowledge/understanding employee functions and duties.

    Pros

When I started at ICEE in 2003 it was a company that cared about it's employees. For the first couple of years it was great.

    Cons

Company became more corporate minded and upper management started distancing itself from the employees. Accounting department was run on a different set of rules than customer service, which is hard to when the departments interact with each other. Every fall there is a purge of employees, usually the ones who are at the top of the pay scale. I saw 2 people who had been there 20 years let go. I was there 9 years without being written up for anything, then all of a sudden in 2012 I was getting written up. This led to my being terminated. There is also NO room for advancement in the corporate office.

They kept piling on the work without compensation

    Pros

401(K) Stock Options Most of the employees were easy to get along with.

    Cons

Salaries that don't compensate for the hours that are put in. Big brother attitudes always spying on what is being done especially inside vehicles with cameras and listening devices. And the chosen few that reported to upper management regarding what was being said.
