I have been working at The JBG Companies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Well known company. Mention JBG to anyone in this industry and they'll know exactly who we are and will probably be impressed.

-Plenty room for growth, flexibility, and variety.
    -Great benefits.

    Cons

-Commission structure can use some vast improvement.
-Immediate managers will purposefully give you low evaluation scores to keep you under the radar.
-Favoritism is definitely shown and your hard work will go unnoticed if you are not in the fold with the right ppl.
-Being creative, residing in the grey areas, and thinking outside of the box in your approach to Leasing and/or Management are frowned upon. If you're more edgy and not as "cookie cutter" as everyone else, don't hope to make many connections here.

    Advice to Management

Show more appreciation and support for your onsite management teams. This company has developed some of the most insanely beautiful properties I have ever seen in this area. Sometimes I don't think the higher ups realize or don't get that these properties don't come to life with out us.

    Pros

I work for JGB company well-known in DMV establish company

    Cons

No training! Upper management was a task master! My hours was from 8am to 9pm I was the first to work and last to leave constantly picking up the next employee slack! I believe In team work! But that was and understatement. The lynbrook and meadow creek office is manage very unorganized! Resident very aggressive and disrespectful no employee protection. You just left out there to fend for yourself! Resident would over crowd the leasing office with all kinds of demands. Management will not assisted would disappear from the office every time.

I worked at The JBG Companies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Onsite employee perks (coffee, drinks, ice cream parties, breakfast).

    Cons

Management is self-absorbed. Limited promotion opportunities are given to favourites rather than actual performance & abilities. Corporate inbreeding will be a determent to the company. Don't be fooled the HR department is there to protect the company, not for looking at the best interests of the employee.

    Advice to Management

Manage your big egos so the entire team wins. Be more objective about promotions rather than who brown noses the most.

    Pros

Good company to get your experience level up to par then move on to a more reputable source.

    Cons

Too many suck ups that don't deserve to be promoted are all over the company, not to mention terrible regional managers with stuck up attitudes and a portfolio manager that likes to argue and be rude to people below her.

    Advice to Management

Improve your HR department that no one knows about or ever hears from and stop putting people with disgusting attitudes into upper management positions,,self absorbed managers are bad for your company and attitude is just as important as experience.

-upper management gets to know everyone
    -training available

    Cons

-compensation is not always the greatest
-sometimes they try to save money too much and don't want to spend money to fix issues on site
-sometimes willing to overlook vendor issues in order to save money

    Advice to Management

It would be better if before decisions were made for on site that opinions of on site employees were taken into consideration on order to simplify implementing new procedures.

Incredible access to deal-level experience and key decision makers. Very flat organization run by the best in the business in the DC market. No hierarchy, will be given as much responsibility as you can handle.

    Cons

Work hard play hard environment. Exactly what you should expect from a PE shop. Base pay is low for the hours, but made up for in year-end bonus if you are a high performer.

    Pros

    Cons

could use an extensive amount of training in diversity. extremely political and favoritism isn't blatant, even when the staff member doesn't perform. training of staff when hired would alleviate time wasted

    Advice to Management

teach senior management to spend real time with their subordinates beyond their ops managers.
