    Pros

Open management willing to listen to changes requested by employees.

    Cons

Culture is dry and boring, perhaps it is the industry but Jacobson has not found a way to engage Millennial talent into believing that Insurance and more importantly, the staffing industry is a good place to be and grow. So much focus is placed on insurance that staffing is often forgotten. Compared to other firms in the city, Jacobson simply lacks the excitement and focus on acquiring talent.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when it comes to culture. Baby steps have been taken but there is not enough engagement to have an employee want to stay for a career. Perhaps have team building activities each week, not just a 10 minute break. Interactions within the company feel inauthentic and forced. Such a good company and concept but culture is inhibiting serious growth.

    Pros

Management consistently works at improving company culture and provides benefits like flexible hours, work at home options and events. They work very hard to retain their employees and provide an overall positive environment. It's a matrixed organization.

    Cons

The only con may be the retirement benefits, though their are regulatory constraints based on the company's business model that make retirement benefits complicated.

    Advice to Management

Management is very proactive and positive. Any employee can approach the CEOs or senior management with any problem or suggestion. Keep doing what you're doing.

    Pros

Managers are friendly and welcoming, and the company offers quarterly employee appreciation lunches or happy hours. There’s a great group of newer employees, and it’s easy to make friends, especially as a millennial.

    Cons

Employees are micromanaged, given little independence, and offered few opportunities to grow. The main focus is on numbers (number of calls made, voicemails left, emails sent) than the quality of the calls and the quality of the candidates. There’s a huge disconnect between the management (most of whom have been at the company for 10+ years) and the newer employees (many of whom are in their first or second job out of college). The managers assume the company has no faults, while the staff feel neglected, underpaid and underappreciated. There are limited opportunities for growth and development, and managers seem to discourage rather than support employees pursuing and obtaining new skills and interests.

    Advice to Management

Support your younger employees and offer them opportunities to learn new skills, try new things, pursue different opportunities. Don't assume that buying them lunch every month is all it takes to make them happy. Compensate them fairly and give them the independence to grow.

I worked at The Jacobson Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Expectations for the job were clear. Senior leadership was supportive and created a collaborative work environment. People advance in their careers based on merits and exceeding your numbers. Overall fun place to work.

    Cons

Honestly, I had a good experience working here. I'd recommend it to others. If you work hard, get along with others, and deliver results you will do well.

    Advice to Management

The makeup of staff is not diverse enough. Beyond that, keep doing a great job. High marks on integrity. I appreciated the focus on treating people with respect.

    Pros

    High touch with c-level
    New 21st century work environment
    Innovative culture

    Cons

Can't think of a worse culture fit for professional sales people.
Upper management more concerned with gossip than numbers
Fulfillment team can't fill difficult job orders
No tangible difference between competition. (Half the time we call the same people as competition to fill orders)

    Advice to Management

Learn to manage different sales personas. Just because there are different styles of people doesn't mean 1 person is more right than another.
C-level needs to stop playing favorites and act more professional.
