I have been working at The Jacobson Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is surprising to read reviews (outside of temporary employees) that say that there aren't many opportunities for growth within the company. My assumption would be that those individuals failed to express interest and take the initiative on creating their own career path. This is definitely a work hard play hard atmosphere that not everyone does well in. No one is ever just handed a promotion... One needs to prove themselves and do things that are above and beyond their "job description" before given additional responsibilities or moved into a new role. The people that work (and stay) at Jacobson have a real passion for the work they do and strong loyalty to the company, brand, and mission. It is a small company, which allows for quick implementation of new ideas and great exposure throughout the organization. After spending time working for a large corporation, the family feel of TJG is a breath of fresh air and somewhere I plan on staying at for many years to come.

Recruiters that would do well here are those that truly like to work as a team. There is no competition between teammates like one might experience at a staffing firm paying commission per placement versus a bonus structure. This is not a dog eat dog environment, but it also doesn't mean that recruiters don't bust their butts and work evenings or weekends when needed.

Sales individuals need to be prepared for a long term relationship. Depending on the service, the sales cycle can be quite long compared to others. With uncapped commission potential though, the sky is the limit. Want to make more money? Sell more. It is as simple as that.

Finally, operational roles are super important at Jacobson. There is so much behind the scenes work that is required to keep the business moving forward and successful... These people can sometimes be the unsung heroes and work some crazy hours, but should feel great about the work they are doing and how they contribute to the company.

Bottom line? If you want a job or to just be another number, look elsewhere. If you want somewhere to start a career and are looking for a company you can be passionate about, then Jacobson is definitely worth a conversation. Every company has its pros and cons, but this is by far one of the best staffing and executive recruiting organizations out there. Great brand recognition in the industry with business that is booming. Plus, banner years = all paid trip for you and a plus one in Las Vegas!

    Cons

Being a small company, some of the benefits aren't as robust (no 401k match for example). Additionally, there is an obvious difference in management style and philosophy amongst the managers and leaders of the organization, which means employees might find themselves not wanting to move to a new team if they do not align with the management style within that area.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up. You always take employee engagement and feedback surveys seriously and make changes as needed. The company is headed in a great direction and this is the strongest I have seen the company in the past 5 years or so!

    Pros

Company provides great experience and learning opportunities, especially for new grads and young professionals. When I started at the company, I didn't have much experience. Over the years, I have been mentored and given room for growth and added responsibilities. In this culture, you will be asked to take on more responsibility; but as you prove yourself, recognition, promotions and raises will follow. I advise young professionals to be realistic about their expectations: You won't get a huge raise/promotion 6 months into your tenure; you have to earn it, but it will come. This is a relatively small company, so there is easy access to senior management and no one is "just a number".

    Cons

    No 401(k) match.

    Pros

This is an exciting place to work - the company is on a growth path, and opportunities abound for those that want to make an impact and are passionate about their own development. Leadership is transparent and there is clarity around how individual goals impact department goals impact company goals. Newly built-out office space lends itself to teamwork and collaboration across the organization.

    Cons

    There is no 401k match.

    Pros

Competitive salary within the recruiting industry with a quarterly bonus based on both individual and company performance
Career path/growth - this is something that has change within the past 1.5 years and upper management is very encouraging to have you grow as a professional
Benefits - strong benefit package including Health, Dental, Vision, 19 PTO days and pretax public transportation
Company Culture/Environment - Very parallel and easy to speak with Executives and CEOs. Office has floor to ceiling windows bringing in a lot of sun light and a very open, comfortable feeling.
Broad range of employee tenures range from 10-25+ years to 1-5 years. Makes for a nice balance of expertise and growth potential
Quarterly company outings/new hire happy hours
    Good work/life balance
Good core values as an organization
Business is growing faster than ever
One of the only organizations that offer the range of solutions we provide

    Cons

401(k) - it is offered, but you must be an employee of 1 year

    Pros

The company is small, and able to give younger folks awesome opportunities. They try hard to recognize your efforts, and will train you up at the beginning with a ton of information. In addition, they will place you in front of C-Suite executives at clients without hesitation.

    Cons

At times it's hard to transition within the company, as there are not a ton of roles that can be created.

    Advice to Management

Clearly define growth path as employees move through their time here, that way there is a reasonable expectation on both sides to retain talent.

    Pros

The Jacobson Group is a great company with owners and managers who truly care about their employees. When a career path was not clear for me, one was created. They are flexible and provide lots of little rewards and signs of appreciation (catered lunches, gift cards, etc).

    Cons

Some managers seem to be better than others for various reasons, but that's inevitable.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to embrace flexibility.

    Pros

Expectations for the job were clear. Senior leadership was supportive and created a collaborative work environment. People advance in their careers based on merits and exceeding your numbers. Overall fun place to work.

    Cons

Honestly, I had a good experience working here. I'd recommend it to others. If you work hard, get along with others, and deliver results you will do well.

    Advice to Management

The makeup of staff is not diverse enough. Beyond that, keep doing a great job. High marks on integrity. I appreciated the focus on treating people with respect.

    Pros

Management consistently works at improving company culture and provides benefits like flexible hours, work at home options and events. They work very hard to retain their employees and provide an overall positive environment. It's a matrixed organization.

    Cons

The only con may be the retirement benefits, though their are regulatory constraints based on the company's business model that make retirement benefits complicated.

    Advice to Management

Management is very proactive and positive. Any employee can approach the CEOs or senior management with any problem or suggestion. Keep doing what you're doing.
