    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at The Jewish Museum full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

There are absolutely no pros to this place.

    Cons

The people, the place. You can’t trust anyone. Members of management and administration are out only for themselves. Lack of support, lack of camaraderie, fake and phony people.

    Advice to Management

Shut the place down. The good days-and the good people-are long gone.

I have been working at The Jewish Museum full-time

    Pros

Nice UES location and close to Central Park.

    Cons

Stay away if you are a Hispanic male, part of LGBT community, African American and Asian. The senior management leading by Claudia Gould is imposing subtle and non-verbal superiority and belittlement toward minorities. She and her loyalists take our ideas and claim our credits. Favoritism culture, this is a place of Claudia's way or highway.

    Advice to Management

Claudia: please retire or quit. I have worked for many organizations and this place is the most unwelcoming organization of all. The museum is going down hill. Time to replace and instill a new Director to lead this organization.

I have been working at The Jewish Museum full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Good benefits, good work life balance and high exposure to renown artists and donors

        Cons

The current Director is an incompetent leader who plays game of favoritism rather than merit. Staff and maanger levels infighting due to the management style. Donors are slipping away in recent years.

        Advice to Management

The orangization has to be restruxtured. The board needs to get rid of the current director - Caludia - and the senior management before more unprofessional and unethical scandals surface on the public news.

I have been working at The Jewish Museum full-time

          Pros

Good reputation thanks to strong relationships with press and institutional funders, great bargreat healthcare, working with top notch external partners (peer institutions, vendors, funders, etc), located on Museum Mile alongside other prestigious cultural institutions.

          Cons

A tradition of protecting and promoting badly behaved colleagues despite poor job performance has been detrimental to office morale.

strong curatorial department, Jewish holidays off, beautiful location & building

            Cons

disorganized management, disorganized work, petty supervisors, high turnover, competitive and unfriendly work atmosphere that was weirdly cliquish, very little social interaction between departments, ugly cubicles with no windows, low salary, no real kitchen, no coffee, very few perks or social events, bad Director, reluctant to pay overtime, inefficient, lack of training and mentorship by management, lack of structure,...

I have been working at The Jewish Museum part-time

            Pros

Opportunity to see some excellent curated art installations. There is a nice balance of contemporary art and Jewish themed artwork.

            Cons

There are some very smart volunteers who would love to work, for pay, part time...and have the skills to do so. The current management is against this. Very short-sighted.
