    Pros

Most of the people/supervisors are great to work with and for. Great benefits, in addition to the medical/dental/401K they also offer exercise classes at a great discount, cell phone discounts and computer purchase program. If you ever needed help with anything almost anyone was willing to help you out. Good work/personal life balance.

    Cons

Some people/supervisors are way past their prime in working there. An employee should not be yelled at in front of their co-workers for something that was not their fault at all. While you do make friends with people there, it should not prevent someone from going to the appropriate department with an issue which it has.

    Advice to Management

Take a good hard look at some of the directors, they say they're all about the safety culture and open door policy but in reality it is quite the opposite.

    Pros

A good environment with friendly and smart co-workers, all of whom are committed to improving the quality of healthcare. The benefits package --especially the PTO -- is quite good.

    Cons

Salaries are ok to start, but raises are minuscule and don't keep up with the cost of living. Decision-making among senior management is like watching glaciers. And if decisions are made, they do not seem to filter down and across the company.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate more.

    Pros

The company has great benefits. Their pay is on par with industry standards. The work environment is very low stress.

    Cons

The organizations is highly bureaucratic and operates in silos. Project are slow to develop and pushing out new services to customers takes much longer than most other companies. There are few growth opportunities at the organization.

    Cons

very long hours - work weekends
Extensive travel -- not home much

    Advice to Management

I worked at The Joint Commission as an intern

    Pros

The prestige of The Joint Commission makes it an exciting place to work. Knowing that the organization has major influence on the majority of healthcare organizations in the US and many internationally is cool.

    Cons

The day to day is pretty uninspiring. The mission and vision is great but the oakbrook terrace office is just desk work. Morale with field surveyors seemed low.

    Pros

Great team-building, telecommuting options, awesome benefits. Younger generation of employees are very friendly (older are not however).

    Cons

HR is completely useless/not supportive at all. If you are an experienced clinician looking to work with similar people, you wont get it here. Believe it or not, most management staff are non-clinical with no healthcare experience. I think the general healthcare public would be disappointed to know that.

    Pros

good benefits, decent pay, good hours. Some very nice coworkers

    Cons

Stressful environment, bullying, no support from HR. Definite favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Keep a closer eye on directors. It is supposed to be a safe environment, however, if you talk to HR, it is pointless and held against you.
