    Pros

    No pros

The Dm's and Rm's will run this company into the ground, most cannot even construct a decent memo without the misuse or misspelling of the English language. Upper management out of touch with shopper. The greedy mentality and kpi's expected are responsible for low moral and attrition . Store mangers have to be miracle workers to keep a staff because of the monthly brow beating that occurs with the ridiculous coaching records which is just a means to erraticate the possibility of a yearly pay increase or chance for advancement, No matter how successful you are, they will find a way to cut you down and de- motivate you. Lazy Dm's who think they are prima donnas lack the ability to actually lead . Especially by example.

    Cons

    Everything ! If I could rate a 0 star I would
Upper management in bed with HR
There is no open door policy it's a farce !
They just try to find a way to get rid of you
No matter how hard you work or how much success you attain ! It's all about never giving you a pay increase

    Advice to Management

Hire people who have been store managers to be Dm's those are the ones who actually know what works and how to be successful.

    Cons

They shrunk the store count too low

    Pros

I was a part-time key holder for 3 years. The company has made a lot of changes. The Jones Group was always reinventing its brand and keeping up with current trends. I liked the flexibility of my schedule and the employee discount. My direct manager was very fair and proactive in resolving any issues in the store.

    Cons

Upper management was not very supportive. There was little upward mobility with this company. Training consisted of workbooks and dated flash cards.

    Advice to Management

Look to promote from within your company; this will help in keeping (and motivating) talented employees. Update your training program to a more hands on approach; most situations that occur in a sales environment cannot be adequately explained with a flash card.

    Pros

Everyone is extremely nice in the jewelry department, which is an entire floor of the building and comprises of approximately 30 employees. The Jones group is a private label company, so it's interesting to see how each team manages each client/brand differently. I learned a lot and my design director was the BEST boss I have ever had. So nice and understanding, and open to all your suggestions. Never negative, overly critical, or just plan mean (which you sadly see almost everywhere in the design world). We had summer friday schedule YEAR ROUND, so everyone could leave by 3PM every Friday. Hours weren't bad otherwise (9-5:30), and there was some sort of office bonding party every week with tons of food and snacks. If anyone was getting married or having a baby, there would be a party or shower thrown for them. Nice people.

    Cons

Not a lot of information was shared with the design teams on the inner workings of the company. It's very corporate, so you just do your job for the day and get out. Could get boring and uninspiring at times. Takes a looooong time to move up and get paid more. Also, the clients are VERY particular and picky about their developments, so there is limited creative freedom and a ton of back and forth with clients as well as vendors/factories.

I worked at The Jones Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

Designer inspiration mini field trips. The budget that was available to work with, in general. Company car account for late night travel home.

    Cons

Late working hours expected. Immature social environment, esp within middle manager culture.

    Advice to Management

Micromanagement is a time-suck. I loved working with the people focused on big-picture strategy, however.
