I have been working at The Jones Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good people trying to do the best for the company
    Good benefits
    3pm Fridays
    Casual dress code

    Cons

Senior management can't get the product right and now no one is buying it. It's terrible what they have done to this company. PE owners are now selling the pieces to the highest bidder.

    Advice to Management

Do what is right for the company, not what is right for your bank account.

I worked at The Jones Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are no good points . All I could do is watch in horror as this manager walked all over employees stole clothes . The only good thing was that she missed a lot of work

    Cons

I was devastated at the verbal abuse , towards all co workers . Then trying to bring attention to upper management was ignored , 25 yrs in retail I ran and fast .

    Advice to Management

    Learn to hire

Nice people, 3pm Fridays if you managed to work at least 40 hours during the week.

    Cons

lay offs all of the time

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to be changed. The CEO did nothing to pull the company out from the downward spiral

I have been working at The Jones Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people I worked with and our benefits were great. The newly renovated design floor was amazing.

    Cons

-Extremely late hours on the Jessica Simpson Brand.. ZERO work to life balance. My first day lasted until 9pm. My second day til 11pm. You were expected to work 80-90 hour weeks all the time.
-Management would purposely schedule meetings at 9 and 10pm so you were forced to stay late.
-Design did the job of Design, Tech Design, Production and Merchandising.
-We were forced to come in on the weekend AND federal holidays without pay.

    Advice to Management

-Stand up for your teams. Extra work got piled on to design because the other departments couldn't keep up. No company needs 2 differently styled lined sheets because the Merchants refuse to work with one type.
-so many last minute changes and extra work for no reason. It was impossible to finish all the work that needed to get done, including if you worked late AND came in on the weekend.
-we designed almost 4-1. waste of factories time, our time.
    -Who schedules meetings at 9pm?
-zero respect for your teams, did not care about our health, or well-being. Never showed appreciation for all the hours put in.

I worked at The Jones Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good with vacation/personal/sick days. Great manager. Great team of assistants to work with. Great sales account executives.

    Cons

Promotional ladder lacks. I was there for almost 3 years and deserved to be promoted and never got it. The company, however, was sold and major layoffs happened. I left shortly after my department started to get hit for another job opportunity.

One manager I worked with caused so much stress on my department that a lot of people, even who didn't report to her, left because of her. HR was notifitied of the behavior and never did anything. She is still there and still causing stress.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your unhappy employees.

    Pros

Supportive atmosphere, friendly employees, growth focused, employee benefits, community involvement and support of causes. Achievement recognition. Life Balance work hours and ethics.

    Cons

Internal margin expectations unrealistic, new senior management hired from outside are idealists without detailed strategic plan to hit targets set in place. Marketing overspend.

    Advice to Management

divisional and brand management should set all goals and be held to achievement of results, rather than top down targets which are creating failure of achievement of the major business metrics.

    Pros

Good benefits, some nice hard working people

    Cons

Very bad upper mgt, poor decisions, no trust in people, ultimately gave up and sold out company to capital group for large retirement packages decimating workforce in its wake which they said was not going to happen

    Advice to Management

Don't sell out the ones who made you who you are, oops too late
