I worked at The Land of Nod full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work/life balance is good if you're on salary. Great for new grads and those with kids.

    Cons

Pay is not up to industry standards (not even close), overlooks bad management even while turnover is rampant, career advancement is obsolete.

    Advice to Management

Take notice then action when a position is vacant often, perhaps there is a common denominator there. Needs to bring in candidates from outside to bring fresh ideas rather than hire from within based on tenure.

I worked at The Land of Nod full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free coffee, tea, and filtered water
    Laid back environment
    Casual dress
Store discount at LoN, Crate and Barrel, and CB2
    Easy parking

    Cons

    Low wages
Not much room (if any) for advancement
    Bad hours
Leads and trainers aren't trained for their positions
Disorganized and not open with employees
Computers and other office equipment are severely outdated

    Advice to Management

Pay employees what they are worth or at least industry standard. Respect employees time outside of work by letting them know schedules more than a few days in advance. Update equipment so employees can actually do their jobs. Don't waste employee's time by requiring an UNPAID hour lunch break and NO 10 or 15 minute breaks throughout the day.

I worked at The Land of Nod full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You can wear whatever you want!!
Lots of sample sales!!! Good work/life balance... never had to work late or over the weekends :) Lot of time/money into decorating the corporate office to make it feel like you work somewhere special :)

    Cons

Upper management are all brothers and sisters. It's kinda inappropriate, and they all report to each other.
Running joke that the CEOs only goal is to become famous.
If you're not drinking the kool-aid, you're cast aside.
THE PAY IS TERRIBLE. If you're fresh out of college, then go here for experience. Don't go here looking for a long term career.
And if you go, you better learn how to suck up to the executive committee. Most of them have never worked anywhere else so many processes are antiquated.
    NO diversity!!!!

    Advice to Management

If someone has a different opinion than you, that is okay. No need to force people out. Many managers have left and we know it wasn't their choice.

/located in the suburbs of Chicago (positive to some)

    Cons

    /underpay and undervalue employees

    Advice to Management

/pay people based off of industry standards

/respect your store associates and customer service experts and begin including them more
/stop giving people more and more work and start hiring people to do the new work. Otherwise, compensate for those new tasks
