Low pay, terrible cafeteria food, not great benefits, not great communication between staff, some guests are difficult to deal with, a lot of turnover

    Listen to employees more

I worked at The London West Hollywood part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good health benefits if you can keep them. They will continuously cut back on your hours even if full time employee.

    Cons

A lot of travelers who don't tip appropriately so making money in the F&B department can be dicey. Upper management are extremely unprofessional and gossipy and don't care about the staffs needs, down to the most basic necessities.
There are many unsanitary places for the employees to work in, including termites, roaches need guest good, and no proper place for employee to wash hands or facilities.

    Advice to Management

Get better training, a lot of you were in over your heads and stop neglecting your staff.

    Pros

The benefits were great as well as interacting with some of the regular guests, I enjoyed collaborating with a small handful of loyal, hard working devoted staff members with big hearts and sweet souls.

    Cons

Favoritism, lack of necessary tools to do job properly, not enough staff, overworked, lack of proper management, coldness between departments, lack of communication between departments, blatant racism, unsupportive HR department to staff (only there to support upper management for legal issues to protect company), snobby attitudes from other departments, lazy and horrible staff members allowed to stay there despite terrible work ethic and shady behavior.

    Advice to Management

Restructure the entire hotel beginning at the top.

    Pros

Some, very few, people who work there are amazing, genuine and true team players.

    Cons

    - Unfair/ Illegal practices
    - Racism and classism blatantly present
    - Poor support from management
    -Inexperienced "leadership"
    -Politics over safe, supportive environment
    - backstabbing & fake personas everywhere
    - HR isn't fair; supports decisions made by emotion, not facts. The director seems to be disconnected from the hotel and seems to only be there to "cover up" the actions of select managers, seemingly the acts of the GM.
    - Some areas are completely unsanitary and unsafe.
    - Guests are allowed to be aggressive, harassing and threatening to staff. i.e.- threatening to fight staff, sexually assault team members all without even a blink, removal of the hotel, etc.

    Advice to Management

My Advice is to Northwood: remove everyone from the GM down to 90% of the Hourly staff. Many are what's wrong with the establishment.

    Pros

The London was a great place to work. Great benefits and the pay was great. I worked in the Gordon Ramsay restaurant, so being a server and receiving health insurance was fantastic.

    Cons

There were six different managers while I was working at Gordon Ramsay. The turnover meant that once new ideas were implemented, there was someone coming in to implement their ideas.

    Advice to Management

Management knows what they were doing. If anything, I'd say that giving managers enough time for their new implementations to have some time to be carried out would be fair to the managers, as well as the employees.

I worked at The London West Hollywood full-time

    Pros

Worked here a few years ago. The pay was good, management was good (although a lot of turnover when I worked here.) overall, it was a good experience.

    Cons

I worked a free buffet, so the tips weren't always the best. A lot of turnover and inconsistent management.

    Advice to Management

Try to keep your job for a few months so that there is some continuity. Overall, management was good while they were there!

I worked at The London West Hollywood full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great learning environment, challenging which was good for growth, multi operational, huge amount of space, good benefits, great product we got to work with, pencil events

    Cons

very long hours, shifting schedule, lack of leadership in other departments, mostly front of house, the pay could be better and there was no Bonus program, tourist location

    Advice to Management

trust, listen to, and reward the chef and culinary team better. Have a better hand on useless managers and works, take a more active and knowledgable look at how things are done

    Advice to Management
