I have been working at The Lukens Company as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Our organization works with The Lukens Company on fundraising initiatives. Our experience across many of their departments has been first rate. Their, creative, strategic, production and management teams are critical to our success. When problems arise, as they always do, senior management has advocated for a fair and reasoned solutions.

    Cons

Difficulty at times in managing multiple, competing priorities. Teams across the company work well-together but sometimes need to better communicate for quicker resolution of goals.

    Advice to Management

Continue to engage your clients with as much transparency as possible. Don't get caught in the weeds. Establish metrics to monitor that high level goals are on track.

    Pros

Teams can be good, some nice, and good working people here.

    Cons

TOXIC ENVIRONMENT! Certain departments are treated better than others. So many internal issues, no HR department to sort it out.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees or you will continue to lose all of the best ones.

    Pros

    Has some big name clients

    Cons

A great deal of internal politics and drama. This was my first job out of college, and now looking back, I can clearly see that it was a toxic work environment. The other reviews are not wrong in there needing to be an overhaul of management. Longevity does not equal professionalism.

    Advice to Management

Let go of those who are the big fish in the little pond. Find new talent, and people ready to learn and work as a team.

Fun place to work with good energy.

    Cons

There was a lot of office politics that became toxic

I worked at The Lukens Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good exposure to politics, museums and non-profit fundraising.

    Cons

Too much internal office politics at play. We had to sign in and out of the office during lunch breaks (not sure if they still implement this rule). Business expenses such as gas and parking for out of town client meetings were not approved by management, so I had to pay out of pocket for lots of expenses related to work. Management could use an over-haul. Favoritism for Directors/VPs who had 15+ years in the industry but unfortunately, they were not effective leaders.

I worked at The Lukens Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Feels like you're giving back to the community with the nonprofit work, some attempts at building community at work, mostly will have time for a work/life balance since it isnt corporate

    Cons

High attrition, unhappy employees, poor senior management, lack of appreciation for employees, unorganized and little room for any type of personal or professional growth

    Advice to Management

Tighten up your senior management. Be more transparent and honest.

    Pros

    Great nonprofit clients
    Interesting coworkers
    Family atmosphere
    West coast office

Lukens is a good place to learn the direct marketing agency business.

    Cons

Feels like two different agencies; political and nonprofit
    Leadership is slow to change
    Not much diversity

You're experience at Lukens is very different depending on the team you are put on. Not a consistent experience.

    Advice to Management

Keep on making good hires and rewarding your top people. Treat people fairly and consistently. Look for ways to be a thought leader.

    Pros

    They are a respected agency.

    Cons

Overworked, Horrible Management on a certain team (hope you don't get hired on it) because the Manager is very unprofessional who has a high rank there and will probably be there for as long as the company is....unfortunate! This person runs around with her shoes off, curses, yells at vendors and employees, speaks badly of people and then is nice to their face, is a bully, and is extremely pushy. Her time is the MOST important, not the employees. You will stay late and she will not care because your needs do not matter. Cray.

    Advice to Management

Get new Managers who respect their employees....it will go a long way.
