I worked at The Melting Pot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The hostess team was like a family. We got good cash at the end of the night if it was busy. Tip out was the best part, but the hourly rate was $6.50, and if business was slow, the tip out was absolutely terrible or nonexistent. The other hostesses became my closest friends at the time, and our manager was so awful that we had no choice but to stick together when things got scary.

    Cons

Verbal abuse, physical abuse from my manager (which is why I left), servers making drug deals in the freezer, doing hard drugs on and off the clock. The manager who was physically and verbally abusive owned part of the business through family and could do anything he wanted without getting fired. Money was absolutely terrible and the turnover rate was a revolving door. The servers were forced to pay the full bill of customers...

    Advice to Management

I wish that the higher-up levels of management had dropped by more, because they would've witnessed the ridiculous turn over rate and the severity of abuse coming from the manager

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at The Melting Pot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent money, some places let you sit at a desk, but others don't.

    Cons

Management can be obnoxious. Luke telling you not to to sit to eat your lunch.

    Advice to Management

    Treat employees with more respect.

I worked at The Melting Pot part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fun job. Get to work around super fancy chocolate and cheese stuffs.

    Cons

As a host this job is only worth while if you intend to be a server. Otherwise the company favors the hosts that have been employed the longest and give the rest barely any hours.

I worked at The Melting Pot part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The pay was good for a hostess job. I got to become at hostess at just 17 which was cool. The servers were nice.

    Cons

The hours were terrible. On some days I was scheduled they'd let me go home 5 mins after getting to the place! That got really aggravating. Also, being "on call" can sometimes suck because you cant really make plans. The management was nice but you could tell they favored people. I wasn't properly trained and the management expected me to know things I was never told about which is a flaw on their part. I only worked...

    Advice to Management

Don't openly favor your employees, treat everyone fairly, and practice what you preach.
