I have been working at The Melting Pot full-time

    Pros

Short hours on weekdays Easily make $100 a night Management is flexible with schedule Decent food, you can't experience this elsewhere, typically.

    Cons

Too many specials bringing in the wrong crowd -- they just want to fill the seats Management doesn't care too much about their employees -- you're easily replaceable to them Side work takes an extra hour compared to other restaurants (cheap labor) High turnover rate with the way management are running things, they're on a downward spiral. People who have been working there for over 5 years don't even have health care...

I worked at The Melting Pot part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Enjoyable staff. Can be flexible with schedule.

    Cons

Horrible pay. Sales averaged 300 to 500 on Fri and sat nights. Tip out is 5 percent of sales because you tip out five positions -bartender and server assistant, host, cheese expo, and entree expo. So this means if you are stiffed on a 200 check, you still pay out 10 dollars to tip out all these positions. Was worse, server assistants, bussers, cheese expo, and entree expo all leave early while servers stay and do sidework....

    Advice to Management

Have tip out be bartender and server assistant/host combination for a total of 2 positions. This could bring tipshare down by half.

I worked at The Melting Pot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good discount 50% off at that and every other Melting Pot location, all employees were like a family, very nice and understanding owner, fun company party. flexible schedule

    Cons

too much side duty for 2$ an hour --servers would stay hours after closing just finishing up with all the closing duties while other employees (bussers, food runners, hosts) would leave a lot sooner. Not to mention there would only be one busser/food runner on friday and saturday night.Manager had a bit of an ego and would pick on employees until he could fire them or they would quit. Hostesses wouldn't follow rotation...

    Advice to Management

Hire more bussers, you will be able to keep more employees if they don't have such a horrible experience and don't let them leave unless they help close entire restaurant. the few dollars you save is not worth having an unhappy staff.
