Teachers/Advisors have incredible autonomy and ability to shape learning as they see fit for students
School was not consistently open to self-critique and listening to teachers insights about how to improve the learning model and allow for change.

You really get to know your students well and what motivates and challenges them. Very strong bonds within staff members who are providing direct support to students. Teachers and student support staff work well to maximize support of students.
Administration is really inadequate and top heavy. Many manager but no true leaders. Drastically under resourced to meet the vision of the school. Administrators lack competence in training and support of new staff. Recruitment of students is a big challenge for the school system. Most decisions affecting students are made solely by people not connected to the everyday work with kids, those who are unaware of how decisions actually affect the kids. No concern for feedback from people who understand the outcomes. Overall, the expectations are extremely unreasonable and unattainable.2

an amazing school with a strong vision. I started teaching here and was really allowed to grow and flourish I only left because of relocation. I still remain close to staff and admin and would return if I relocated back.
no real cons here this is a great place, you have to be willing to put in time the school is a place where real work happens but they support a strong work/life balance1

Passion, vision, heart. They want to help kids - there is no doubt.
Pay is super low and work expectations are overly high. You will have no life outside of work and are expected to jump at the drop of a ball... show up whenever asked, receive phone calls at 3 am. Student demands are low as well as accountability.2

The environment is one of innovation and entrepreneuriism where new ideas are supported. There is a true dedication to what's best for kids.
There's an abundance of activity making it difficult to keep focus on a particular plan.1

Very different from a traditional high school The connections you develop with students and their families is great as it really helps to improve the students' academic and overall success in life
The seperation of the buildings can cause tension between students
