I worked at The Mind Research Network full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Stimulating research, cutting edge brain scanning technology, good benefits for students, nice facility.

    Cons

Lack of staff, incredibly high work load, little to no training given, no opportunities for advancement, very clique-y environment, unhelpful staff.

    Advice to Management

Hire and properly train more staff, take employees suggestions into consideration, treat all employees with same amount of respect, and cultivate a supportive and encouraging workplace environment.

I worked at The Mind Research Network full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Island of great equipment and expertise - no other similar opportunities in the geographic area for access to state of the art imaging equipment and such strong support for using it effectively.
Other researchers are generally open, curious, and high quality.
The quality of the students available as RAs can be higher than might be expected since the field of imaging is attractive and you tend to have access to particularly strong students. That said, they still frequently need considerable training for anything technical.

    Cons

Very little cushion to carry any junior researchers who have a lean year or need start-up support.

    Advice to Management

Since I was at MRN the senior management has moved on, so I can't offer timely suggestions.
