    Pros

    Paid meals
    decent pay
    uniforms provided
    Training is decent

    Cons

Supervisors/Management definitely provide advancement to their friends vs. those most qualified.
No stability in enforcement of policies. One person will get away with something another gets written up for, simply because of their friendship status with management. The discrimination is rampant with no way to prove it.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites and be more involved with your departmental staff. Can't build a team when you're not a team player.

    Pros

Most jobs at the Mirage is pretty good with great pay and benefits.

    Cons

If going for the promoter job, be aware that it's commissioned only.

I worked at The Mirage full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Entertaining meeting planners with dinner, hotel shows & drinks throughout the hotel.
Toured meeting planners around the property.
Had reasonable sales goal that was attainable.
A sales team that was full of young & energetic professionals.
    Mon-Fri work schedule
Off on weekends for the most part

    Cons

Pay was extremely low for the job responsibilities
Vacation was only 10 days that included sick days (I’ve heard that has change now)
9 hour work days…. longer if entertaining at night
No causal dress days. Suit & tie is the norm.
The job would have been 100% better however at the time we had a horrible VP of Sales. He made our day to day work environment extremely uncomfortable to say the lease and I cannot image working under him ever again, good news however he since was moved to a different property & position.

    Advice to Management

Pay sales manager a reasonable salary not 45K a year

    Pros

great people, super flexible, always welcoming, great customer service for not just guests but for the employees as well. great first job!

    Cons

being a lifeguard is hot and exhausting, and you have to deal with a ton of drunk people who cant take care of themselves nor take care of the kids that they haul over to vegs with them

    Advice to Management

pay more attention to your employees and implement more ways so that they can stay and maintain a safe atmosphere at all times necessary

Former Employee - Educator/Tour Guide in Las Vegas, NV

I worked at The Mirage (More than a year)

    Pros

The best benefits I lave ever had. There are many employees that have been there over 20 years.

    Cons

Not every department is created equal and smoking is allowed in the casinos.

I worked at The Mirage full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a good customer service experience. They had great benefits and there were a lot of perks from working in the concierge. Management was approachable.

    Cons

For some reason the concierge department didn't function like a normal concierge. We weren't allowed to book all normal amenities. We were restricted in our commissions (unlike ALL of the other hotels on the strip).

    Advice to Management

Not sure if it's since been updated. If not, improve your commission and tipping restrictions. Basically allow the department to function as a full-service concierge.

I worked at The Mirage full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only positve part was that I did enjoy some of my former colleagues.

    Cons

I came into this position with high hopes and full of ambition. At first I was praised beyond belief and then overnight everything changed. This is not a place where professionalism is key. They sold the atmosphere as a 'team', only to micromanage and make you do the work of your own manager. There was little to no communication from the management down, but you were expected to know what they want. It is a hostile work environment where mean girls with mediocre skills prevail. There are regular outbursts and continuous negativity. They will find a way to bring you down, despite how much they tell you how well you are doing. To be allowed to attend a meeting relevant to your job is considered a "privilege." This was a very dissapointing experience and I would NEVER recommend this position to anyone that has a mind of their own and a truly professional demeanor. It will not be appreciated.

Out of 10 employees in office, 8 of which are managers. Rampant power trips and personal complexes. They do not respect Designers. They spoke ill of ALL of their previous employees, making fun of them publicly and personally. Even going so far as to write names on a whiteboard with descriptions such as "lazy", "looser", "druggie," etc.

    Advice to Management

Learn to understand and respect what Designers actually do everyday. Learn some professionalism and common human decency and please get off your high horses, you're really not that bright.

    Pros

None. If I could give this job a 0 I would!

    Cons

This was the worst job I've ever had in Special Events! Don't do it! Worst upper management who doesn't know how to lead a team. Your opinions are worthless and you will get taken advantage of. Also , did I mention MICROMANAGE!? All employees have left because of this.

    Advice to Management

Don't be such a bully! Appreciate your employees!
