    Pros

Decent Benefits. Corporate office is pretty.

    Cons

Terrible Managers, Old Systems, Good Ole Boy's club that has a problem with female leadership, terrible commutes, bad environments, and refusal to change for the better!!!

    Advice to Management

Let the new talent you hire do their jobs!!! Not all 30+ years with the company male leaders are good leaders. Eliminate the old school attitude and modernize systems, thinking and procedures. Actually do Lean.

    Pros

One of the leading global suppliers of crop nutrition chemicals.

    Cons

Poor commercial management that protects their own interests.
Promotion and hiring of inexperienced department managers.
Mosaic management is under the impression when global business is good it is the result of their skilled management, sales and support departments.
When global business is poor it is due to adverse market conditions and not management.
Human Resources for the most part worthless.

    Advice to Management

Hire and promote managers that have some experience and not learning their job at the expense of others.
Time to move some dead wood out of commercial management.

    Pros

Pay and benefits are pretty good

    Cons

Gone are the days of good old Cargill Fertilizer and welcome to the bad days of Mosaic , when it was Cargill management worked with you to help you do your job Mosaic works against you and they play favoritism if you not part of favorites you can look to be treated unfairly compared to the favorites

    Advice to Management

listen to workers and sincerely try to see things their way and there's no need to play favoritism role its not good for company nor workers that actually work and still get mistreated

    Pros

Great people in the trenches and good benefits. Rural, blue collar culture with traditional values, if you like that.

    Cons

CEO is in Minnesota, with the other executives. Operations are in FL, LA, NM or Canada. Bad management is allowed to persist in the regions and the executives have a nice buffer between them and the rest of the company regarding these issues, as they are merely bean counters. This company is no where near being like Google, so don't believe any of their hype about culture.

    Advice to Management

At the very least, can you weed out the clueless and narcissistic managers! The job is tough enough!

    Pros

Good pay, great crew to supervise, amazing safety program

    Cons

1 hour drive to work, alternating days and nights 12 hr shifts in the same week. Direct management was not educated and only used old school methods.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your people they are your greatest assets. Get out into the mine and observe multiple shifts more than once a week.

I have been working at The Mosaic Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This may be the place for you to work if you're interested in mining and don't mind an industrial chemical environment.

    Cons

Opportunity for growth is limited, depending on what position you take (operations or maintenance). The company does not use their talent at all (from a mechanical engineering point of view); everything is contracted. You will not use the skills you learned in undergraduate studies. They will shape to you to what they want you to be, which is often not what you wanted to be.

    Pros

Hourly workers and supervisors are generally great. Most lower level employees are great to work with.

    Cons

Much of a "Us vs Them" feeling with management. They have their favorites whom they promote quickly.
You need to latch onto the person who hires you and ride the "coat tails". Promotions have no objective selection process other than who they like to work with.
Long drive to work if you want to live in a populated area.

    Advice to Management

Selection process needs objectivity. Too many "secret" files on employees and yearly reviews mean nothing.

    Pros

    Nice co-workers and good hours.

    Cons

The managers of procurement (Julia, Candace, Robert) are on huge power trips. I worked for Mosaic for 7 months and I saw at least 10 people get fired for no reason. They try to intimidate you to make themselves feel important. Mosaic is a great company to work for but working in the procurement department you have to deal with the managers who will find a way to fire you. They don't care about you as a person.

    Advice to Management

    No room for advancement.

I worked at The Mosaic Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Pay, decent working conditions, good benefits, educational benefits, front line supervision knowledgeable, continous advancement available, retirement contibutions above average for most companys of equal size

    Cons

Terrible senior management, so out of touch with the front line supervision and general workforce, its sadly comical. Example: VP in charge of Environmental, former job was Dow Chemical with no concept of safety or phosphate. Field Technicians workedin areas requiing 4 wheel drive trucks, dure to mud, water etc.. Senior Managment wanted to down size the vehicle fleet, suggested that they Technicians use their personal vehicles ( Kia ) really ?

    Advice to Management

Place senior management inpositions that they are qualified for, the " good ole boy" is so 1970's, Large turnover on senior managment ( not fired-move to higherpay with new company's) every 2-5 years new VP's, total disruption to front line supervision. If its not broke, don't fix it
