I worked at The Newberry Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Newberry is a great place to make a difference for your career and for the company. Specifically, if you express an interest in an area your boss will work with you to make it happen. You MUST take personal responsibility as well to pursue your interests - however the company will do all they can to make it happen. I enjoyed my time working at this place.

    Cons

Can't think of any. You will not be spoon fed a career, you must have a vision for yourself and be willing to take action on it.

    Advice to Management

More transparency on the strategic vision of the company.

    Pros

They are all for keeping the employees happy.

    Cons

When a contract ends, you are left without a job

    Advice to Management

None. I think they are a great company and would be honored to work for them again.

I have been working at The Newberry Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The job itself is rewarding. Pay is good. Flexible environment and staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

    Cons

No major concerns. Newberry Group does not sit in status quo mode. As a small company they are always looking for ways to succeed beyond what they do today. Priorities tend to change, but this can be a good thing.

    Advice to Management

Continue the involvement at the ground level.

I have been working at The Newberry Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Small employee owned company HQ in MO. Very nice people, great internal IT support structure. Nice people in management.

    Cons

Nothing special to offer it customers. The company wants to be in Government agencies, but does not have contracts to support the org.

    Advice to Management

Work to get more contracts for Government agencies. Set more realistic quotes for you sales staff.

I worked at The Newberry Group full-time

    Pros

Worked as a contractor at remote site

    Cons

Was hired on for less than what I should have and was offered a paltry raise when given a promotion. But this might have been the manager's fault.

I worked at The Newberry Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My manager was very open and easy to contact and willing to address any concerns that I had. On a couple of occasions, I would contact him for various reasons and he would offer to meet up with me for lunch or a quick cup of coffee where we could chat for a bit. Any pressing concerns that I had, he made every attempt to address them in a very timely manner.

    Cons

When I started, the benefits weren't the greatest. Right before I left, a new benefits package was rolled out to reduce the cost the company. I can't really say anything about the new benefits package as the CEO was extremely vague in discussing the plan during the all hands webcast. He did mention on several occasions that the new plan would save the company a lot of money.

It appears to be almost impossible to get a raise with Newberry. During my time with the company, the only time I got a raise was: 1. when I told my manager that I had been looking for a new job, and 2. about a year later when I told him I was leaving. The second raise didn't happen because I had already decided to move on.

I worked at The Newberry Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits were decent (tended to get a tiny bit better each year).
Some of the staff was very nice, capable, and smart.
Would usually fire people when necessary instead of managing around them or ignoring bad behavior like some companies.

    Cons

Mostly a body shop. Seemed overly focused on getting people on contracts, only for them to languish there. Not really interested in really smart people or innovative thinking. Mostly interested in technical people who are inexpensive and good for generic mid-level IT on contracts.
Would string people along for jobs, opportunities, growth, etc... Promises based on nothing real. Get everything in writing.
Barely any communication from management about anything. Hardly ever in the office because they were "working remotely".
Recruiters are very unprofessional and their tactics are a clue to the body shop mentality. Literally zero idea what the company actually did.
Weird culture of secrecy and power plays with staff at all levels. Like the more secrets and gossip you knew the more important you are or something.

    Advice to Management

You let the best, smartest people in the business walk out the door because of poor management and hubris. Of course, you'll never understand how any of it is your fault because you're so full of yourself. A little humility would go a long way.
