I have been working at The Ohio State University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I loved the doctors I worked for. We had an amazing department compared to the other departments in the university's dental department.

    Cons

No and I mean no one knows who is the boss. It's all ways "I don't know I will have to talk to someone else about it". The ladder is long and the people at the bottom don't matter. The company just fees like they can always find someone else. The company states that their benefits are so great but they are decreasing every year and the price goes up every year. They don't pay you anything because they feel their benefits are so great you will come work for nothing.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees more. This is 2017 maybe you should start moving up the current employees and quit trying to bring in people from outside the company. One other thing take some time , learn and at least pretend you care about your employees and the job they do. For with out the little fish in the sea you wouldn't have a job your self! DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

I have been working at The Ohio State University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great university and exciting culture and climate, I love living in Cbus. My PI is flexible and understanding.

    Cons

Delivery service is terrible, HR is breathing down my neck all of the time, and postdoctoral benefits, particularly maternity/paternity leave are severely lacking. Implementation of FLSA was very poorly handled and left a lot of postdocs very unhappy.

    Advice to Management

Treat postdocs better if you want to keep them and recruit high level researchers.

I have been working at The Ohio State University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits are amazing if you take advantage of them. Great being around students and good opportunities to mentor them. Possible to land a meaningful position and make an impact.

    Cons

The cultural climate of the campus community comes from the president, which could be bad depending on the president appointed. Middle managers can be fearful to innovate. Many middle managers enjoy the status quo or prefer to be out of sight, out of mind.

    Advice to Management

Recruit and retain top talent or recruit talent with great potential. Don't fear innovation.

    Pros

The benefits are very good which include free tuition for employees.

    Cons

The vice-provost at the time did not truly care for the populations we served. The people in charge were not concerned with training employees or helping employees advance their careers if they were not in the clique.

    Advice to Management

Have managers who understand diversified populations and want to make a positive difference. Train employees instead of blame them.
