    Advice to Management

We are human and get sick, have deaths and other tragic events. We should not be shunned if we experience events like these. Work smarter not harder and consider all employees and their abilities.

I have been working at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flexible schedule, and nothing else.

    Cons

Very little opportunity for growth, and when you do get that opportunity, they will lowball your salary (capped at 10% from your previous salary per HR practices). Pay is much less than market value for IT jobs in the area. Annual raises are 2% (2!), meanwhile the raise isn't enough to cover how much your insurance went up that year. They also do not offer cost of living raises. It's terrible.

    Advice to Management

At least act like you care about your talent.

I worked at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

OSU employment overall: Benefits (Cadillac plan!); being a BUCKEYE!!, free tuition for staff and discounts on dependents tuition, lots of perks

    Cons

Unless you are a clinical professional (nurse, technician in a clinical specialty, behavioral health, etc) stay away from medical center jobs. Leadership, management, and mid-management do not care about their staff, plays favorites, and are severely lacking in leadership skills. Not a pleasant environment in which to work.

    Advice to Management

I understand they are hiring a Chancellor. He or she needs to do some deep evaluation of current senior leaders and replace as necessary. Those new leaders then need to evaluate the current management below them and replace those who are not skilled or qualified to lead.
