Good insurance, always had openings for new employees

    Cons

No time off! you always had to worry about the 3rd shifter. company also never took into account local pay rates. Way under paying employees

    Pros

It was a decent company with it's ups and down.

    Cons

It was a multi billion dollar mom and pop company. To bad it was bought and torn apart.

There was frequent turnover for Sr. Management, most likely due to acquisition from Circle K?

I worked at The Pantry full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free drinks and great for networking with managers of other businesses and hook ups on events if you maintain strong employee-customer relationships.

    Cons

Long hours, unreliable coworkers, double shifts, no appreciation, forced to upsell items that no one wants or your job is at risk. Management I've dealt with are sneaky and will write you up for the smallest of things. They spend more time trying to get you fired than helping you further your chances of promotion.

    Advice to Management

Treat your associates with respect and appreciation. Not all will do their best but for those who do, don't take advantage of it. Consider people's financial situations when cutting hours to save your own job and learn to be more considerate of your employees with secondary employment seeing as you'll only get paid but so much in your position.

I worked at The Pantry part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

At the store where I worked, you usually got the shift you wanted.

    Cons

Too many people tried to be involved when you were asking for days off.

    Pros

Provided with company care and expense account. Lodging, when in reason, during travel was not questioned. Hampton, holiday inn express, was the usual accommodations. Geographically diverse and allowed for relocation if you were interested.

    Cons

While being told need to tighten expenses
Locations literally not being allowed to buy toilet tissue. Millions of dollars being paid to keep executives from quiting.

    Advice to Management

Change was inevitable. Can't speak to current situation as the company has been purchased by circle k. I have heard good things about the circle k company.

    Pros

The people had a teamwork attitude which made getting things done much easier.

    Cons

Decision making was slow which caused delays.

    Pros

Working with the public, pay pretty well, Benefits are good

    Cons

Unreasonable expectations of employees sometimes. As a management employee you are expected to be on call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Their main concern are the numbers not the relationship with staff.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your staff. Treat them like they are people.

I have been working at The Pantry full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid weekly, meet cool customers/coworkers/managers from other stores. Paid time off (if you can actually schedule it)

    Cons

Underpaid, impossible to find decent employees that want part time, very small labor hours given to employees, rude customers, no personal life. District managers and up only seem to care about less important things.

    Advice to Management

Need to pay more for people that slave away for the company, need to give more labor hours to the store level to meet the outrageous standards especially in stores that are only single coverage.
