I worked at The Predictive Index full-time

    Pros

It is extremely difficult to find places like PI where leadership makes decisions with a people and culture-first mindset. They never hesitate to invest in the growth of their employees through continued education or certifications. If a team requests a new tool to help them be more efficient/creative/effective the answer is almost always yes. They have always gone above and beyond with employee events and benefits (the benefits package isn't just competitive, it's centered around the fact that employees have a life outside of work). The mission of PI is "Better Work, Better World" and they live out that mission internally.

    Cons

It is echoed in other reviews but this is an extremely fast-paced organization. This means more than working quickly and really refers to the fact that things change fast at PI. What you are focused on, how you preform your role, and KPIs can change frequently. This type of environment isn't for everyone so it is something to consider. Overall, if you have worked at a growing start-up you will know what to expect. This isn't a con for me, but is something to consider when accepting a role at PI. The products are at the forefront of daily life at PI. You will hear about the behavioral patterns, talent optimization, relationship guides, etc. on a daily basis. There is a ton of passion for the products and vision among the employees and leaders. Personally, I found this energizing and enjoyed working for a product that I believed in/had seen be successful as an employee at a client site. That being said, I could see it being a lot for someone who doesn't believe in the product or where PI is headed. They don't expect you to be shouting your love for PI from the rooftops, but a lot of employees do without being asked. I think it depends on perspective because I saw this as a pro but can understand why it has come up as a con for some. Bottom line: If you come in with some belief in the product and how it helps organizations you will be just fine.

I have been working at The Predictive Index full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The company recently went through a RIF (reduction of force) and 25% of the team were furloughed or laid off as a result of the COVID19 pandemic. The company was transparent, open, thoughtful and as Humane to everyone impacted as possible. Those who remained took temporary (we hope) pay cuts. The two leaders took 100% cuts and the cuts went down from 25% to 10% depending on level. These efforts made the RIF much smaller than it would have been otherwise. I have spoken to many laid off, as the whole company is helping them find work. They mostly want to come back. I think this speaks to the very positiver culture that exists at PI.

    Cons

It is unfortunate that we were not in a position to weather the economic storm and save everyone's job, as this is a horrible time to be unemployed.

I worked at The Predictive Index full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Phenomenal culture and mission -Management really practice what they preach -Benefits and compensation very competitive -Absolutely incredible colleagues -A product which really provides great insights

    Cons

-The cart is before the horse more often than not, with regard to company initiatives -The trade-off between quality and speed is extremely heavily weighted toward speed. That can be hard to stomach for higher-formality employees -Management likes to quickly move to the next shiny thing, leaving lots of projects half-done

I have been working at The Predictive Index full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The software and theory is pretty good. It is helpful and add some insight that you probably would not have without it. If you apply it with common sense it might be useful data. It is not something I would ever use to define process. It often becomes something that is used as an excuse for someones behavior. People end up being excused for being anti social or unapproachable because they are a certain reference profile. Sometimes people are promoted or disqualified based on their reference profile. None of the data derived from PI should be used as a determining factor of anything, just another data point that may or may not help out.

    Cons

The way our tools are used internally is unfair. It is used as a determining factor in many ways. We coach our partners and end users not to use it that way, when we use it exactly that way internally. Also, who you report to will define your success. A reason that you see so many positive reviews is very simple. You must do things like that to have a chance at any advancement and to keep your job. The videos, the LinkedIn posts, the reviews here on Glassdoor. It is all a way to show senior leadership that you are bought in 100%. Once there is any doubt, you are managed out. I have seen this countless times in many different ways. I have seen top notch people asked to leave or managed out simply because they are not outwardly infatuated with leadership and the direction of the company. Even if you believe in it, work hard and look upon leadership favorably, you must be an activist and a PI evangelist. You have to be outspoken, and take any opportunity to be very visible to have any chance at all. They claim to be open door and say that you can share your thoughts without any retaliation and it really is not the case. If you decide to try PI out, think about these points and make sure you understand it is all about image. If you are not willing to dive in and advocate on every level you will not make it long. It is all about conformity.

    Pros

Comp and benefits are excellent. Most people are a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

Hypergrowth at PI has meant sacrificing the sanity of employees. Making people feel bad for needing a day off when that's what you preach isn't a good look. Expressing that you want more out of your career is usually just that- expressing, because the personal development sessions are a joke. It's just go go go, work work work and letting people completely fry and get to their tipping point. It's unfair to preach so many things and then deliver on maybe 1-2 of them. The PI champagne only tastes good when it's chilled and sadly it's getting warm.
