I have been working at The Preston Partnership full-time

    Pros

It seems like a lot of bad management and leadership has left (willingly or not), which has made room for a new, younger generation to take ownership and move up quickly. Morale is surprisingly good, with a lot of joking around and fun times at office events. Company seems to be poised for somewhat of a "refresh." It will be interesting to see how it plays out..

    Cons

Long hours are not uncommon, but comparable to other arch firms. After the recent loss of employees, a lot of projects have been left for new employees to "fix." There is plenty of work to go around.

    Advice to Management

Embrace the younger generation, and don't pass up the opportunity to truly re-orient the firm's trajectory.

    Pros

Salary is higher than average, but don't let that fool you into working there. If the salary is the only things that appeals, right off the bat, keep looking. Projects are pretty interesting. Nice office and location.

    Cons

There's a condescending attitude that bleeds down from the top. Expect to be treated accordingly. From what I've heard 30+ people have left the firm in the past 6 months. Management is very critical of the younger staff. You'll be expected to work long hours.

    Advice to Management

Be less petty. Treat your people like actual humans and not just numbers.

    Pros

Big projects, big offices, big show, a Gulf Stream or was it two, Lake House and a full stocked frig for beer Friday ....

    Cons

Lack of sophistication ... Lack of of quality design or a method for effiecent delivery

At least in the satellite office ... Only 3 people in the architectural department had multifamily experience ... That explained a lot of the pains that we had

    Advice to Management

Don't hire non-multifamily principals to manage offices of teams!!!

Be aware of destructive behavior by principals in charged

Principal in charge should change his email password before he throws others under the bus

I have been working at The Preston Partnership full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very transparent leadership. Highly organized. Very process and quality oriented. Caring towards their staff. Exciting projects in a fast paced environment where there is plenty of opportunity to shine. Very good salary and compensation.

    Cons

Not really any cons that I can think of. The company seems to be really well managed with a bright future and growth prospects.

    Advice to Management

    More of the same.

    Pros

it has good people. the working environment is very good. the benefit is good. Between department, it has good coordination system. and pay was good

    Cons

It does not have much cons at all. Only things at the time, it grows too fast, so when downturn came, it got small too fast. But it might be much better managing now.

I worked at The Preston Partnership full-time

    Pros

The employees (from the Principals to the interns) there are very good assets to the company. Design is off-the-charts good and the Office is in a great location. Salaries and benefits are very good.

    Cons

Everyone underneath the CEO is subject to his ever-changing whims. He doesn't listen to advice -- so much so that very few try to offer advice anymore. There is no sense of stability and many employees are unhappy. Quite a few have left the company in the past year.

    Advice to Management

Give your Principals and Project Managers more freedom to run projects. Focus on marketing and giving a steady vision for the company future. Instill a sense of stability. Bring back the fun-factor.
