    Positive Outlook

I have been working at The Principia full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

A move towards innovative education that is meaningful for any and all 21st Century youth.
A focus on educating leaders to solve problems through thinking with Principle, Truth.
A focus on developing young men and women to be strong citizens who contribute to the public good.

    Cons

Salaries - feel like they are hidden and impossible to impact.
Busy-ness - feels like more and more is added without any further compensation.

    Advice to Management

Compensate fairly - take $$ off the table and your employees will take their minds off of $$.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at The Principia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities for recent grads to get some real world work experience under their belts. Great benefits including time off and 401k matching up to 7.5%. Supportive community.

    Cons

Minimal opportunity for promotions within your department. A lot of employees who are hired here stay here for decades. It seems like it could take 10-12 years for a substantial promotion. Small community where it seems like everyone is in your business.

    Advice to Management

Create more opportunities for employees to want to stay for a longer period of time. In some departments there are high turnover rates simply because the job is a burn-out, or employees feel like their not being compensated fairly after they realize that there time is worth more.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at The Principia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most departments have few people, so you get to be a great general manager, a jack of all trades and a master of none so to speak. This experience stacks up and exceeds many corporate positions early on in one's career, as many of many counterparts had limited scope of responsibility, but a lot of it.

    Cons

Outside of being a teacher or professor, there was a limited path to career advancement, and most people work on the staff because other family members do, or so they can be close to their children.

    Advice to Management

Just continue to remember that the main mission is the education of children, and everything else stems from that mission.
